He E (female), born in 1937, graduated from the Northwest Academy of Arts, majoring in sculpture. He is currently a member of the Lanzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People' Expert Consultant of China Sculpture Society, Expert Consultant of National Urban Sculpture Art Committee, Expert of Environmental Art Professional Committee of China Construction Culture and Art Association, Distinguished Sculptor of China Sculpture Academy of China Academy of Arts, Honorary Chairman of Gansu Artists Association, President of Gansu He E Sculpture Institute. He was elected as a deputy to the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and a member of the 6th and 7th CPPCC National Committees of Gansu Province. He was awarded the honorary titles of "Special Government Allowance Issued by the State Council", "Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts", "Lifetime Achievement Award of Chinese Arts and Crafts" and "National March 8th Red Flag Bearer Pacesetter". His representative works: the large-scale urban sculpture "Yellow River Mother" (granite) was built in 1986 on the banks of the Yellow River in Lanzhou, Gansu Province; the giant city sculpture "Genghis Khan Sculpture Group" (five groups of bronze) was built in 2006 in Genghis Khan Square, Kangbashi New District, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. The "Olympic Art Congress" has been held several times in Beijing, China in 2008, London in 2012, Nanjing in China in 2014 and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016, and has received strong support from authoritative art academies such as the International Olympic Committee, the Organizing Committee of previous Olympic Games, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the embassies and consulates of the cities and localities where the Olympic Games are held, the Chinese Artists Association, the National Academy of Painting of China, and the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The various works of art exhibited at previous Olympic Art Congresses have left valuable artistic wealth for Olympic culture.

In the painting "Congratulations and Friendship", we see two women holding flowers embracing. Please tell us about the meaning of the work and the feelings you felt when you created it.
This work was chosen to congratulate the successful hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympics. It means that China has continuously strengthened international exchanges in the new era of reform and opening up, showing the broad prospects of friendly exchanges with other countries. The two women embraced in the work represent China and the rest of the world, respectively. The women of the East represent our sons and daughters of China, and the women of the West represent the countries of the world.
The work "Xiongguan" portrays the moment when the athletes hug each other very much, so that we can see and deeply feel the spirit of the women's volleyball team of "the motherland is supreme, unity and cooperation, tenacious struggle, and never say defeat". What did you think at the time?
The work "Xiongguan" is a manifestation of the spirit of the Chinese women's volleyball team and was created in the 1980s. At that time, after seeing the news that the women's volleyball team won three consecutive championships on TV, I was particularly excited, and immediately pinched a small draft, and quickly completed this work. It is used to portray the unity and struggle of the Chinese women's volleyball team, which is completely consistent with the spirit of the Olympic Games.
Seeing that these two works use different materials, I think it is exquisite, please tell me about the differences.
Generally when creating, I will choose the material corresponding to the theme of the work, and it is true that it has been selected. The work "Congratulations and Friendship" is carved from white jade. The material of Han white jade is warm and moist, which means warm and pure friendship. The granite material used in the work "The Crown" implies indestructible.
You can see that each piece is poured out of your emotions, poured out your love and blessing for the country, and want to hear your feelings.
A good work requires a lot of accumulation of knowledge, which contains concern for the country and feelings for the nation, all of which are long-term. It is not a day or two of hard work, it does take time to precipitate to complete.
