In the Qianlong period, because Qianlong was so happy and meritorious, he praised himself as a "ten-year-old man", coupled with the closure of the country and the squandering of the Qing Dynasty's treasury, the Qing Dynasty at this time had begun to decline. When Jiaqing had just taken the throne, he would face the Miaojiang Rebellion, the White Lotus Sect Uprising, and natural disasters everywhere. Although Jiaqing did everything in his power, the Qing Dynasty was too ill to return to heaven. In the decline of the dynasty, it is the people who suffer after all.
In Daxing County, Beijing, there was a young man named Lin Qing, who was ill as a teenager and apprenticed in a pawnshop for a livelihood, but was later expelled from the pawnshop. He then worked in a teahouse and then as a porter, responsible for pulling grain ships. When Lin Qing was about 20 years old, his biggest wish every day was to have a grain ship come to the capital, so that he could have a job and be able to eat a full stomach. Later, Lin Qing became a hawker, usually carrying a burden on the streets of Beijing to sell quail.
During the Jiaqing period, the White Lotus Sect repeatedly revolted, and Jiaqing spent a lot of effort to finally suppress the White Lotus Sect. However, a branch of the White Lotus Sect called the Tianli Sect is popular in Hebei, Henan and other places, attracting many believers. A few years later, a peddler named Lin Qing grew up to become the leader of the Tianli Sect, and Lin Qing had been oppressed for a long time and wanted to do something big, that is, to drive the Manchus outside the Guanwai and then establish himself as king. Therefore, at that time, there was a saying in Beijing: "If you want to be white-faced and lowly, unless Lin Qing sits in the temple."
The Tianli Sect is a very mysterious organization, each believer has his own cover work, and although Lin Qing is the sheikh, he is still a peddler to the outside world. In September of the eighteenth year of Jiaqing, Lin Qing finally took action and led 3,000 followers to attack the Forbidden City. There were many eunuchs and forbidden soldiers in the Forbidden City, who had become members of the Tianli Sect, and they should cooperate inside and outside, open the city gate, and Lin Qingbing divided into two roads and led the people into the palace. Lin Qing personally led a group of people and horses to kill from the Xihua Gate, cut people when they saw them, killed people and set them on fire, and the momentum was huge.
During the Jiaqing period, the Qing Dynasty officials were corrupt and lax in management, although there were many guards in the palace, but the guards were from the nobility, and they had never seen such a scene of rebellion in the palace all their lives, and they were stunned, and even few of them fought back, and they fled. At the critical moment, the second Brother Mianning led more than 500 guards to the top, these guards held advanced weapons such as bird guns (primitive muskets), although the rebel army had 3,000 people, but they were all "rabble", and would not fight, Lin Qing shouted loudly, but still could not stop some people from retreating, near the Longzong Gate, the battle was very fierce, Lin Qing shot arrows while directing everyone to kill the enemy, there was an arrow shot on the plaque of the Longzong Gate.
This incident, known in history as the "Change of the Forbidden Door of the Heavenly Sect", was a horrific rebellion in the history of the Qing Dynasty, and it was not expected that as long as 3,000 people could break through the imperial city, the final result was summarized as 4 points:
First, Lin Qing and others were captured alive and executed, and the Tianli Sect has since fallen apart.
Second, the second Brother Mianning was not in danger, and was made the Prince of Zhi by Jiaqing, defaulting to the heir, that is, the later Daoguang Emperor.
Third, the Jiaqing Emperor deeply reflected and issued a self-edict.
Fourth, Jiaqing ordered that the cluster of arrows on the Longzong Gate should never be taken off and left as a warning for future generations.
Lin Qing, a peddler, he is not a hero, but the arrow he shot at the Longzong Gate, from the eighteenth year of Jiaqing to the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the whole 99 years have not been taken down, starting from Jiaqing, Daoguang, Xianfeng, Tongzhi, Guangxu, Xuantong, the six Qing Emperors, whenever they see the cluster of arrows in the Longzong Gate, they will think of a person named Lin Qing. But it turned out that Lin Qing only allowed the Qing Dynasty to strengthen the defense of the Forbidden City, but did not strengthen its national defense, and when the Eight-Power Alliance knocked on the coast of China, the Qing Dynasty still failed to change the fate of extinction.
