According to Reuters, local police said on the 6th that armed men kidnapped 3 Chinese citizens working on a power project in Niger State in central Nigeria and killed two local workers.
According to reports, local police said that gunmen attacked Chinese enterprise workers who were installing transmission line towers in a village on Tuesday (4th). The gunmen are suspected of being gang members who created chaos and carried out mass kidnappings.
Wasiu Abiodun, a spokesman for Niger police, said three Chinese citizens were kidnapped and four other Chinese rescued after a shootout between the gunman and the police, Reuters said. Abiodeng added that a Chinese worker and two local workers were hit by bullets and the injured Nigerian later died in hospital. He also said police and the military joined forces to begin searching for missing workers.
