In an interview, AMD ECO Su Zifeng confirmed that the Ryzen™ 7000 series will be replaced by an AM5 interface, the AM5 interface will be as long as the AM4 interface, and the Ryzen™ processor and motherboard using the AM5 interface can still be compatible with the current heatsink.
AMD does not change the interface for a long time, when the user upgrades the CPU, the motherboard and heatsink matching the CPU do not need to be replaced, which can save a lot of money. When the Ryzen 5000 series went on sale, many manufacturers upgraded the BIOS of the 300 series motherboards so that they could support the Ryzen 5000 series. Of course, if you want to take full advantage of the full performance of a new CPU, you still need a new motherboard.

However, the AM4 interface adopts AGA package, there are slots on the motherboard, and the CPU has pins, which can improve the stability of the CPU and the performance under high load conditions, but the power consumption is relatively high, and the pins are easy to touch when plugging and unplugging. In today's CPU power consumption ratio is getting higher and higher, the advantages of PGA packaging are no longer obvious, and consumers are more looking forward to AMD's early introduction of LGA package interfaces.
The AM5 interface will choose LGA package, replace the pins with contacts, and the density of the contacts is much greater than that of the pins, which can meet the needs of DDR5 and PCIE 5.0. When replacing the CPU, you don't have to worry about hurting the PINs of the CPU, if you plan to sell the CPU and the motherboard back to blood, you can also sell a good price.
Since its release in 2016, the life cycle of the AM4 interface is as high as 6 years, Su Zifeng said that the AM5 interface will exist for a long time like AM4, and the AMD CPU will use the same interface in the next few years, and the cost of AMD users replacing the CPU will be greatly reduced.
The release time of the Ryzen 7000 series has not yet been determined, but it is certain that within this year, the positioning of the Ryzen 6000 series is close to that of the 11th generation Core, which can only be regarded as a transitional product, and the Ryzen 7000 series released during the year is AMD's big move. As for whether to buy the Ryzen 6000 series, or continue to wait for the Ryzen 7000 series, Xiao Lei believes that the CPU does have a situation of excess performance, if there is a need, buy it now, there is no need to wait for the next generation of Ryzen.
