One of the most legendary figures of the late Qing Dynasty was Hong Xiuquan, the leader of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement. Although he came from a family of cultivators and readers, his family was not rich, but he was bent on establishing a democratic prosperity of "the world is just". The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement he led swept through most of China, and it took fourteen years from the Jintian Uprising to the fall of Tianjing, and more than 600 cities were successively captured, and the power spread to eight provinces, which can be said to be quite cattle.
The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom not only impacted the rule of the Qing government, but also dealt a heavy blow to foreign reactionary forces, leaving a far-reaching and meaningful impact on modern history. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement was the pinnacle of the peasant uprising, and Hong Xiuquan's leadership was the most cattle outbreak of the peasant uprising. The influence of this movement on future generations made Sun Yat-sen also bow to the wind, and he said that he was "Hong Xiuquan second".
In the heyday of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Hong Xiuquan not only regarded himself as the King of Heaven, but also built a huge and luxurious palace for himself. In addition to building a palace, he also took more than eighty concubines for himself. At first, Hong Xiuquan clearly said that he would share weal and woe with everyone, but the more he developed, the more he resembled an emperor, deviating from his original intention.
In the sixth year of Xianfeng, after the Qing army broke through the Jiangnan camp, the taiping heavenly kingdom became very powerful. The Eastern King Yang Xiuqing and the Heavenly King Hong Xiuquan began to have contradictions, and Hong Xiuquan was even more jealous of the Wing King Shi Dakai. The final result was that the Wing King Shi Dakai and the Northern King, the Yan King together killed the Eastern King Yang Xiuqing, and Shi Dakai killed the Northern King and the Yan King. Since then, the Taiping Army has gone downhill.
In Hong Xiuquan's later years, his thinking became more and more conservative, but the Qing army became more and more powerful, and Tianjing was doomed to be unsafe. However, Hong Xiuquan refused to abandon Tianjing, and when the Xiang army and the Huai army came, Su and Zhejiang quickly fell, and Tianjing was quickly lost. On June 1, 1864, Hong Xiuquan died, and his son Hong Tianguifu succeeded to the throne. However, on July 19, Tianjing had already fallen, and the Balance Of Heaven was completely destroyed.
The so-called tree fell and scattered, and when Hong Xiuquan was there, his children were all members of the royal family and were veritable aristocrats. However, after his death, it was different, especially since Tianjing had fallen, and Hong Xiuquan's children were chaotic thieves. That Hong Tianguifu naturally could not escape death, and was eventually arrested and tragically executed by Ling Chi.
As mentioned earlier, Hong Xiuquan has more than eighty wives, so how many sons does he have? Only four! All four sons died tragically because of him. Because the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom had caused headaches for the Qing government for too many years, after quelling the rebellion, it was natural to severely punish the people involved in the case and set an example. Therefore, after the fall of Tianjing, the emperor sent heavy troops to search for Hong Xiu's entire family to kill him.
It is normal that Hong Xiuquan's sons were caught and killed, after all, they were afraid that in the future there would be people who would support them like they supported their father. However, the Qing Dynasty killed the Hong family more than that, and also sent troops to Hong Xiuquan's hometown of Guanlubu Village in Hua County to kill all the people surnamed Hong.
So does Hong Xiuquan still have posterity? His own children and grandchildren do not have, but nephews do. At that time, the Qing government carried out a strict strangulation operation against the Hong clan, and only a small number of people escaped overseas to escape the disaster. Two of Hong Xiuquan's nephews survived. One is the descendants of Hong Quanfu, the king of Ying, and the other is the descendants of Hong Quankui, the king of Lang.
Hong Quanfu once fled to Hong Kong, first as a cook, but then became the boss of Hong Mun, and finally died of illness in Hong Kong. Hong Kuiyuan fled to the United States at that time and finally settled in the United States. Today, he has a descendant who is the famous medical expert Hong Weiling.
Hong Xiuquan was extremely popular that year, with more than eighty wives, but in the end he did not even leave a son. The inheritance of the Hong family depends on the two nephews of Hong Xiuquan, who fled overseas at that time, which is really regrettable.
