On the last day of 2021, Tesla once again conducted a large-scale vehicle recall due to safety hazards.

On the afternoon of December 31, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued a news release saying that Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled some imported Model S, imported and domestic Model 3 electric vehicles.

Specifically, the recalled vehicles are some imported Model S produced between January 21, 2015 and November 18, 2020; some imported Model 3 produced between October 4, 2018 and November 20, 2019; and some domestic Model 3 produced between October 14, 2019 and December 27, 2020, with a total recall of nearly 200,000 units for the three models.

It is worth noting that Tesla just recalled more than 475,000 vehicles in the US market yesterday, and after the cumulative addition, Tesla recalled nearly 700,000 vehicles in two days, about 1.35 times its global deliveries in 2020.

In summary, Tesla's recall in the two places is similar, mainly to solve the problem of sudden opening of the front trunk cover and the inability to use the reversing image.

First of all, in the Model S models within the scope of the recall, there may be a situation where the alignment position of the front trunk lock latch and the lock buckle is slightly backward, which has the probability of affecting the secondary lock latch, that is, if the primary lock latch is accidentally released and the secondary lock latch is not locked, then the front trunk cover may suddenly open during the vehicle driving, affecting the driver's vision and greatly increasing the risk of collision accidents.

Among the recalled imported and domestic Model 3 models, the safety hazard mainly lies in the reversing image. The trunk lid can be overly worn after a long period of repeated opening and closing. If this wear causes the core of the coaxial cable to separate, it may cause the reversing image to not work properly, thus affecting the driver's field of vision when reversing, and in extreme cases increasing the risk of collision when reversing.

Although this will be Tesla's last recall in the Chinese market this year, it is far from the first.

December 3, November 5, June 26, June 3, February 5 this year, are Tesla's "recall days", the previous reasons are mainly seat belts can not be fixed as expected, tires are prone to pressure, mistaken activation of the active cruise function or cause the vehicle to suddenly accelerate, etc., are related to driving safety.

Tesla's deliveries in the first three quarters have reached 627,300 vehicles, according to analysts' expectations, the annual delivery volume or will reach 900,000 or even 1 million vehicles, the delivery volume is getting bigger and bigger, the number of recalled vehicles has also broken the previous record, Tesla should indeed increase the control of production lines and quality control.

A few hours before the announcement of the recall, Tesla had just carried out a wave of price increases, of which the Model 3 rear-wheel drive version rose by 10,000 yuan, and the Model Y rear-wheel drive version rose by more than 20,000 yuan.

Regarding the reasons for the price increase, some analysts pointed out that it is mainly related to the cost of auto parts, the rise in the cost of raw materials, and the change in market supply and demand at the end of the year.

It is worth mentioning that on the afternoon of the 31st, the Ministry of Finance and other relevant departments jointly issued the "Notice on the Financial Subsidy Policy for the Promotion and Application of New Energy Vehicles in 2022", which clarifies that in 2022, the framework and threshold requirements of the current purchase subsidy system will remain unchanged, and the subsidy standard for new energy vehicles will be reduced by 30% on the basis of 2021.
