【Emotional psychology】Children's game addiction to cope

In my work, I have come into contact with a lot of children who are overly addicted to online games. If you find that your child has this situation, first of all, it is recommended that parents should not be overly nervous and should look at the problem reasonably and correctly. As a post-80s generation, I myself have accompanied the game through my youth. Children should have the opportunity in their own lives to experience the fun of play, but they must not indulge.

In 2007, the University of Montreal in Canada recruited 100 volunteers to play 90 hours of various games and observe brain activity. It was found that during the game, the use of the hippocampus in our brains has decreased, and if the use of the hippocampus is reduced for a long time, it may lead to the atrophy of the white matter of the hippocampus, and it may also lead to Alzheimer's disease in advance. But when the volunteers played a large 3D logic analysis game, the hippocampal white matter increased significantly, which gave the researchers a possibility of treating Alzheimer's disease.

So far, there are still no studies that can pinpoint that excessive use of games can cause irreversible serious changes in the brain. Therefore, we recommend that parents not be overly nervous about the problem of their children playing games.

But at the same time, excessive addiction to games can indeed lead to problems such as child boredom, parent-child relationships, and myopia. In particular, some parent-child relationship problems may cause children to become more addicted to the virtual world.

In fact, in the process of helping children, a harmonious parent-child relationship is the magic weapon. Therefore, it is recommended that parents, if there is difficulty in communicating with their children, they should still go to a professional institution for treatment and let a professional psychotherapist intervene in time.

Finally, I call on parents to squeeze out some of their time to accompany their children!
