BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The China Philharmonic Orchestra will hold its 2022 New Year Concert at the Poly Theater in Beijing on December 31. For the first time, the orchestra invited the National Ballet of China to join, and the two sides will work together to present this New Year's concert called "Music and Ballet" to the audience, which is also the 21st consecutive year that the China Philharmonic Orchestra has held a New Year's concert.

On December 31, 2000 and January 1, 2001, the China Philharmonic Orchestra, which had only been established for half a year, held its first New Year's concert, which was broadcast live by CCTV. This performance became China's first New Year concert in the new century, and also marked the beginning of the historical tradition of the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra's New Year concert.

This year is not only the 21st consecutive year that the China Philharmonic Orchestra has held a New Year's concert, but also the one with the greatest change in form: although on the stage of the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra's New Year's Concert, many instrumentalists and singers have been invited to the stage, but they are limited to the form of music. At this year's New Year's Concert, in addition to enjoying the chinese and foreign classic songs played by the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the audience will also see the wonderful performances of the dancers of the Central Ballet.

In fact, the last time the China Philharmonic Orchestra collaborated with the National Ballet of China dates back 10 years: in March 2011, the two troupes jointly performed the classic ballets "The Girl in Alai City" and "Carmen" composed by Bizet and choreographed by Roland Petti at the Poly Theatre, and the wonderful cooperation between the two sides is still fresh in people's minds even ten years later.

In this collaboration, the actors of the National Ballet of China will perform the famous passages in the classic dance drama "Onegin" and "Swan Lake", the "Porcelain Dance" in the dance drama "New Year" created by the head of the National Ballet of China, Feng Ying, the director of the National Ballet of China, based on Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker", and the dance choreographed by the assistant artistic director of the National Ballet of China and the master of the ballet Xu Gang for Shostakovich and Johann Strauss. The highlight of this concert is also the famous passage in the most representative ballet of the National Ballet of China, "The Red Detachment of Women", which will surely leave a good memory for the audience.

Another highlight of the concert was Chopin's "Smooth Row and Brilliant Polonez" soloed by young pianist Inchi, a masterpiece of piano and symphony that is elegant and charming in the first half and festive in the second half, which is very suitable for the New Year's concert.

In addition, the China Philharmonic Orchestra has also prepared many musical works full of festive atmosphere, such as Johann Strauss Jr.'s "Spring Sound Round Dance", Igor Stravinsky's "Firebird" excerpts, etc., and will also specially perform the music from George Bizet's "The Girl of Alai City" and "Carmen", paying tribute to the deep friendship between the China Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Ballet of China in more than ten years of artistic cooperation.

The concert will be conducted by Huang Yi, permanent conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and principal guest conductor of the National Ballet of China, who will show his talents in both symphony and ballet, as well as his rich experience in working with the Two Arts Groups of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Ballet of China, to present a double feast of hearing and vision for the audience.
