Long Yu, Music Director of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra
The 2022 Guangdong International Youth Music Week is the first cultural event of great international significance in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area at the beginning of the New Year. At the same time, this music week will have greater breakthroughs in communication concepts and technologies, empower culture with science and technology, drive integration with innovation, tell the story of China and Guangdong, and do a good job in explaining the era of "Humanistic Bay Area".
With the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, as the main founder of the Music Week and the chairman of the Art Committee, Long Yu, music director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and famous conductor, planned in advance to promote the 2022 Guangdong International Youth Music Week to be held in Guangzhou as scheduled. Affected by the epidemic, the 2021 Guangdong International Youth Music Week was held online in the form of a "special project". At that time, this new and successful attempt was one of the few international music events that could be held under the epidemic, and the 1.63 million online broadcasts at home and abroad left a strong mark in the history of YMCG.

Jing Huan, permanent conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra
The opening concert on January 16 was performed at the Symphony Hall of the Xinghai Concert Hall, with Jing Huan, the permanent conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the music director of the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducting the Canton Symphony and Youth Symphony, performing the fourth movement of the British composer Gustav Holst's Planetary Suite, "The God of Joy - Jupiter", the symphonic poem "Roman Pine Tree" by Italian composer Otorino Respichi, and the French composer Camille Saint-Saën's "Carnival of Animals".
For the selection of the opening concert, Chen Qing, director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, interpreted it like this: "The 'Jupiter' in the "Planet" suite means joy, the music is so full of enthusiasm and vitality, so that you will think of the young people who participated in the music week, which is a sincere greeting and welcome to them; "Roman Pine" was played in the first Guangdong International Youth Music Week in 2017, after several years, the world has changed, we keep the memory with the classic, polish the original heart; "Animal Carnival" is an interesting work. It commemorates the centenary of the death of the composer Camille Saint-Saën, and at the same time, the work implies a concern for nature and ecology, which is quite meaningful, and echoes Beethoven's "Pastoral Symphony" at the closing concert. ”
Music Week 2017 concerts

Dvořák's "Ode to the Moon" uses music to connect the two separated by the epidemic with the artistic conception of "sending lovesickness in the bright moon". It can be said that this closing concert has no precedent in the history of Guangdong International Youth Music Week, it was born due to the epidemic barrier, but it shows that in the courage and creativity given by music, we can always reach each other's hearts.
