Aqua Blue plays a symphony of spring

On March 11th, Shuilan, a Chinese conductor who has been away from Guangzhou for three years and is renowned in the world music scene, will once again come to Xinghai Concert Hall to conduct the "Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra 2021/2022 Music Season [10] Shuilan Interpretation Picture Exhibition", bringing three colorful and highly appreciated romantic masterpieces. Among them, "Rococo Theme Variations", a work that fully demonstrates the skills and charm of cello playing, will be played by Pan Chang, deputy principal of The Canton Cello.

The three works performed in the concert have their own characteristics. Among them, Rachmaninoff's symphonic poem "The Rock" was composed by the famous composer Rymusky-Korsakov, and is one of the earliest successful works of the composer.

Variations on a Rococo Theme is a variation with a suite of pieces composed by Tchaikovsky for cellos and orchestras. The song gives full play to the various exquisite playing skills and rich performance charm of the cello, and is a must-have piece for appreciating cello works, and it is also an unavoidable test for becoming a top cellist, which is favored by cellists from all over the world.

Mussorgsky's "Picture Exhibition" will paint the most simple and vivid colors for this concert. After attending an exhibition of his late friend's paintings, Mussorgsky wrote a piano version of the work like a fountain, "The ideas and melodies came to me automatically, and I could hardly write them all down on paper fast enough." Today, the work is often presented with orchestral pieces arranged by Ravel, and the elegant Frenchman, far from depriving the music of its realism and bizarre imagery, has brought it to light, and both composers have received the same honor in this work.

The conductor of this concert, Aqua Blue, is known for his exceptional ability to build an orchestra and for his passion for promoting new works by outstanding composers from Asia and around the world on the international stage of contemporary symphony. Aqua Blue was Music Director of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra from 1997 to 2019 and currently serves as Conductor Laureate. Under the leadership of Aqua Blue, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra became a world-class orchestra and signed an exclusive record contract with the internationally renowned record label BIS.
