Opening and closing concerts, focusing on people and nature

The opening concert on January 16 will be performed in the Symphony Hall of the Xinghai Concert Hall, with Jing Huan, the permanent conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the music director of the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducting the Canton Symphony and Guangqing Symphony, the fourth movement of the British composer Gustav Holst's Planetary Suite, "The God of Joy – Jupiter", the symphonic poem "Roman Pine Tree" by Italian composer Otorino Respichi, and the Animal Carnival by French composer Camille Saint-Saën.

For the selection of the opening concert, Chen Qing, director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, said: "The meaning of 'Jupiter' in the "Planet" suite is joy, the music is so full of enthusiasm and vitality, so that you will think of the young people who participated in the music week, which is a sincere greeting and welcome to them; "Roman Pine" was played in the first Guangdong International Youth Music Week in 2017, after several years, the world has changed, we keep the memory with the classic, polish the original heart; "Animal Carnival" is an interesting work. It commemorates the centenary of the death of the composer Saint-Saën, and at the same time, the concern for nature and ecology implied in the work is quite meaningful, and echoes Beethoven's "Pastoral Symphony" in the closing concert. ”

The closing concert will take place on the evening of January 23, and YMCG Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma will deliver a video link. The concert also invited young musicians who have participated in the past YMCG in China and three groups of young string quartets from the China Philharmonic Orchestra, shanghai symphony orchestra and Guangzhou symphony orchestra to form this year's YMCG symphony orchestra, and under the direction of Jing Huan, they will perform Beethoven's Sixth Symphony "Pastoral", bringing out the theme of man and nature; in addition to the video speech, Ma Youyou in Boston will also play the Antoning Symphony Orchestra on the stage of Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall in the form of a screen ensemble. Chamber music project: The ensemble leads the beethoven posthumous music

Chamber music learning and performance is one of the major traditions of Guangdong International Youth Music Wednesday. The instructor of this year's Chamber Music Project is the world-renowned Shanghai Quartet. Founded in 1983 at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Shanghai Quartet has traveled the globe, holding nearly 3,000 concerts and recording 35 albums in 35 countries and regions. In 2020, the Shanghai Quartet began teaching at the Juilliard School in Tianjin.

During the 2022 Guangdong International Youth Music Week, the Shanghai Quartet will hold three master classes at the Xinghai Concert Hall on the afternoon of January 16, 18 and 19 with three groups of quartets composed of young musicians from the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, which will be held in xinghai concert hall on the afternoon of January 16, 18 and 19. On the evening of January 18-20, the Shanghai Quartet will also hold three special concerts for the Beethoven String Quartet in the Chamber Hall of the Xinghai Concert Hall with the above three groups of young quartets from the Beishang Guang orchestra. The master classes will be broadcast live online at the same time, and a total of six performance activities will radiate to more young people and public welfare communities who love music as the center of Ersha Island, and inspire more inspiration and new ideas online and offline.

The works selected for this master class and concert are Beethoven's first, fourth, sixth, eighth, tenth, eleventh and thirteenth string quartets, and the seven works run through the early, middle and late creation period of Beethoven's string quartet, which is a reflection of his mental journey from a wild youth to an introspective old age.

Walk into the city and integrate into the lives of citizens

The 2022 Guangdong International Youth Music Week will, as always, go into the city, draw inspiration from the cultural roots of Guangzhou, feed the city with humanistic feelings, comfort the soul, and show the bones, morality and temperature of musicians.

On January 17th, the Shanghai Quartet and Canton Symphony Orchestra will go deep into the community, enter the public's vision, and join the Xinghai Concert Hall public welfare project "Music Accompaniment Program" to interpret the young musicians' support for public welfare and their understanding of love and harmony in an innovative form. Ersha Island Xinghai Concert Hall, Guangzhou Children's Palace, Modisha Park, tram... All will be possible places of encounter.
