Windows 11 has a new bug that affects the color display of some HDR monitors

Windows 11 has actually had a variety of large and small problems since its launch, and Microsoft has been working hard to fix bugs. Recently, Windows 11 has been confirmed to have another bug, and this bug will affect the system's color management and, more fatally, affect color rendering. At present, Microsoft is already working on the development of related fixes, but it will take about 1 month to push at the earliest.

Windows 11 has a new bug that affects the color display of some HDR monitors

This bug reportedly prevents some image editing programs from rendering colors correctly on some HDR monitors, and once this bug occurs, the user's picture may appear in bright yellow or other colors instead of the original color, so the problem is most obvious in the shadows.

Microsoft said the bug will occur when specific color-based Win32 APIs report unexpected information or errors. However, Microsoft also stressed that not every color profile management program will be affected, and the color profile options in the Windows 11 settings page and the Microsoft color management panel should be normally available.

Microsoft is already working on a color issue affecting the Windows 11 21H2 version, and is expected to push the relevant fix update at the end of January. However, if the user is participating in the Insider Program, the update with the relevant fix should have been pushed, and some users affected by the problem also said that the related color rendering problem has been completely fixed in the new push.

In view of the fact that Windows 11 is still a lot of problems, plus various updates may bring new problems, so if you have professional needs for work, it is recommended not to upgrade to Windows 11 first.
