The surging news reporter learned from the Shenzhen Grubbs Research Institute that Professor Robert H. Grubbs, honorary dean of the Shenzhen Grubbs Research Institute, lifetime distinguished professor of the California Institute of Technology, Academician of the American Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Engineering, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, died in the United States on December 19, 2021, at the age of 79, due to ineffective medical treatment.

Shenzhen Grubbs Research Institute introduced: Professor Grubbs's main research field is "precision catalysis", and he was awarded the 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his epoch-making contributions in the field of olefin complex decomposition. In November 2015, Professor Grubbs reached a consensus of cooperation with Shenzhen to jointly establish the Shenzhen Grubbs Research Institute, and in December 2017, the Institute was officially settled in southern University of Science and Technology as the first batch of Nobel Prize laboratories in Shenzhen's "Ten Action Plans".
