But some people are just obscured by the situation in front of them, even if they are poor and love the rich, they do not leave a little room for people, but they did not expect that in the end, they hit their own faces, and today is exactly such a story.
The marriage that itself said was good, but because the woman's family hated the man's examination and repeatedly failed to win, he did not leave a little face to let the bride run away directly at the wedding. The things that could have been solved privately could not be made off the stage, or the matchmaker felt guilty and promised his daughter to the groom, but he did not expect to send his daughter a lifetime of glory and wealth.
The bridegroom who was runaway from marriage was named Zeng Guofan. There are two theories about the four famous ministers of the late Qing Dynasty, but either way, there must be the names of Zeng Guofan and Zuo Zongtang. This pair of big people who called the wind and rain in the late Qing Dynasty hall had a common regret in the early days, that is, they repeatedly failed to win.
Zuo Zongtang was fine, after taking the exam 3 times without winning, he simply abandoned his pen and surrendered, we did not take the exam, we went to war. But Zeng Guofan was stubborn, the more he failed to pass the exam, the more he had to take the exam, he took the exam 7 times before and after, I don't know how much ridicule he received, and finally in 1838 AD, he successfully passed the meritorious name and gave him the same jinshi.
But in the seven years from 1826 to 1832, he had taken the exam seven times just by taking the exam. Some people can wait for him to dive into the dragon and soar to the top; some people can't wait, such as his fiancée Wang clan. After Zeng Guofan passed the Xiucai examination, another 2 years passed, and in 1834, he chose to enter the Yuelu Academy in Changsha to study, and under the introduction of his father Zeng Linshu, he worshipped Ouyang Ningzhi as a teacher.
Ouyang Ningzhi ken valued Zeng Guofan's knowledge, especially his manuscripts and poems, and he was very appreciative. At this time, Zeng Guofan was 23 years old, but because of his study, he had not considered marriage. Ouyang saw the situation and arranged for him to introduce the daughter of a local Wang family.
At the beginning, the two sides got along very happily, Na Cai, Qing Ming, Na Ji, Na Zheng, please period, and kissing the wedding ceremony were also completed, but I did not expect that something happened on the wedding day. It turned out that the Wang family had only heard the news that Zeng Guofan had failed in many scientific examinations, and thought that even if he had taken the examination for Xiucai 7 times, there would certainly be no big success in the future.
Therefore, the Wang family did not even bother to discuss, and directly did not show up on the wedding day. On the wedding day, the guests were full of doors, but the protagonist of the wedding was one less, everyone present was embarrassed, and the Zeng family was even more angry, presumably after the wedding without a protagonist, their Zeng family would become the local laughing stock.
The most embarrassing thing was Ouyang Ningzhi, why did he think of being a matchmaker to help people get married, and as a result, he also formed a vendetta? In order to be worthy of the Zeng family, Ouyang Ningzhi simply said to Zeng Guofan: "Xian Nephew, I am sorry for you, but the matter has happened, the wedding will definitely continue, if you don't abandon it, how about I marry my daughter to you?" ”
Ouyang Ningzhi would make this decision, in fact, it was also related to his daughter's original interest in Zeng Guofan. But in the eyes of Zeng Guofan, it was Ouyang Ningzhi who cherished his feelings and righteousness, and in order to round up the face of their Zeng family, he would rather sacrifice his daughter. Therefore, Zeng Guofan was touched and said to Ouyang Ningzhi, "I will earn a commandment for her and come back." ”
Later, Zeng Guofan did not live up to his promise, not only earning a pint of commandments for his wife Ouyang Shi to return, but also after he first entered the shi, he tried to find a way to help the old man and mentor Ouyang Ningzhi to obtain the position of head of the Lianhu Academy in Hengyang. Ouyang Ningzhi estimated that he did not expect that the husband who he had let his daughter marry in order to save the scene would later be called the first heavy minister of the late Qing Dynasty, allowing her daughter to enjoy glory and wealth for a lifetime, simply the strongest son-in-law.
