He was the commander of the Capital Guard Division of the old Jiang Qinding.

In January 1949, he said at a meeting of the cadres of the whole division that "the Yangtze River is dangerous and has no chance of winning." (The original words are: "The common people do not want to fight, even if there is a natural danger on the Yangtze River, there is no certainty of victory in the fight.") After being informed by Zhang Yaoming, commander-in-chief of the Nanjing Garrison District, he was placed under house arrest on the grounds that he "spread the situation of defeat in the officers' assembly and disintegrated the hearts of the army, which was actually the enemy Zhang Mu" and was put under house arrest.

So who is he? What happened next?

He was Wang Yanqing, who later became the founding colonel of our army.

Wang Yanqing, a native of Yongxing, Hunan, was born in 1910 and graduated from the second phase of the Officers' Training Class of the Central Military Academy and the fifteenth term of the Army University, and successively participated in the warlord melee, and later participated in the battles of Songhu, Nanjing, and Yichang during the anti-Japanese period. He served in the Kuomintang forces for 20 years, until 1947 when he became the deputy commander of the 208th Division of the Youth Army, and later the deputy commander of the 87th Army.

One day in mid-August 1948, Wang Yanqing in Beiping suddenly received a notice from Old Jiang summons, and after he rushed to Nanjing, he learned that Old Jiang Had appointed him as the commander of the 97th Division of the 45th Army of the Yulin Army, a position that Prince Jiang had recommended by the State. The 97th Division had three regiments, one was originally the Guard Regiment of the Central Military Commission, one was the Guard Regiment of Chen Cheng, the Commander of the Sixth Theater of Operations and the Minister of Military Affairs, and the other was the Guard Regiment of Gu Zhutong's Army General Headquarters. Later, Lao Jiang organized these three regiments together to form the Capital Guard Division, which belonged to Lao Jiang's housekeeping unit.

Later, due to the defeat in the war, this Imperial Forest Army was reorganized into a field army by Chiang Kai-shek, and was combined with the 102nd Division to form the 45th Army, which was responsible for the management of Nanjing near Deng. It was under the command of Zhang Yaoming, commander-in-chief of the capital garrison.

Of course, the commanders of this old Chiang Kai-shek's housekeeping unit had to be appointed by the old Chiang Kai-shek. What is unexpected, however, is that Wang Yanqing, as the commander of the old Chiang Kai-shek unit, actually made such remarks in front of the cadres of the whole division, "destroying one's own morale and displaying the prestige of others.", and even more unexpected things happened; Wang Yanqing had contacts with our party early in the morning and was prepared for an uprising.

On March 24, 1949, Wang Yanqing, who was under house arrest by Zhang Yaoming, learned that his staff had informed the above, saying that "Wang Yanqing was bribed by the shared gold bars, lost his conscience, and plotted a rebellion." The bandit spread rumors in the army and disturbed the morale of the army. He also sent his staff officer Zhao Changran to launch a gendarmerie to participate in the rebellion in an attempt to occupy the airfield and arrest senior generals of our army. ”

Of course, Wang Yanqing could not admit to the conspiracy to defect, he said: "If what is written above is the truth, and the Communist Party did bribe me with gold bars, then please submit evidence, I request that I be immediately sent to my house to search, such as finding gold bars, willing to be punished by military law!" He only admitted that he did make a few grumbling remarks at the meeting of the whole division cadres at that time.

At that time, thanks to the secret help of Qin Yizhi, deputy commander-in-chief of Nanjing Weicheng, he was released on the same day, otherwise he would have been imprisoned in Tiger Bridge Prison.

Wang Yanqing, who escaped from danger, knew that his plan for the uprising might have been leaked. Therefore, without even telling his family, he went straight to Jiangning's division headquarters, and after discussing with everyone, decided to cross the north to revolt in advance.

At 9 p.m. that night, Wang Yanqing led two regiments across the Yangtze River and went north to revolt. Due to the rush of time, there is no complete unity of thought. When the uprising was known to Zhang Yaoming, they rushed to print leaflets overnight, revealing that Wang Yanqingtong had surrendered to the enemy and was arrested with a heavy reward, and after dawn, they sent planes to track and distribute, which eventually caused most of the officers and men to flee back to Jiangnan, and only more than 100 people followed Wang Yanqing's uprising and reached the liberated areas.

But this uprising was of great significance, because they were killed from the heart of the Kuomintang and were "pro-alienated" from Chiang Kai-shek's rebellion. Therefore, the 97th Division's uprising shook the Kuomintang government and the public very strongly, and its psychological impact on the officers and men of the Kuomintang army was even more profound.

Later, Wang Yanqing became our founding colonel, and he also successively served as the director of the Tactical Research Office of East China Military and Political University, the deputy director of the Intelligence Department of the Nanjing Military Academy, the deputy director of the Professors' Association, the deputy director of the Military Historical Materials Research Department, the vice chairman of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the deputy director of the Counselor Office of Jiangsu Province. On December 12, 1992, Wang Yanqing died at the age of 82.
