This regiment is the 769th Regiment of the 386th Brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, so there are as many as 100 generals out of this regiment, also known as the "Hundred General Regiments". The Hundred Generals Regiment was born in the autumn of 1927, formerly known as the Red Tenth Division of the Red Fourth Front, and was composed of the Red Twenty-eighth Regiment established by the Hubei Jute Uprising and the Red Thirty-second Regiment established by the Xingzi Port Uprising in Jiangxi. In August 1937, in Shiqiao Town, Sanyuan County, Shaanxi Province, it was reorganized from the Red 10th Division into the 769th Regiment of the 385th Brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army.

The regiment was under the direct command of the 129th Division. On September 30 of the same year, the forward commander of the 129th Division and the 769th Regiment formed an advance detachment, led by Liu Bocheng himself to the anti-Japanese front; on the night of October 19, they attacked Yangmingbao and burned 24 Japanese planes. During the xiangtangpu ambush under the personal command of the deputy division commander, the regiment burned 180 Japanese and Kosovarian military vehicles, which impressed more than 30 generals who Zhu De specially invited the Kuomintang delegation to visit the battle.

Later, the regiment also participated in the Battle of Wolfa Mountain, the Battle of Xingtai Tuling and Niuyu, the Battle of Yuci Huangcai Counterattack, the Battle of Baijin Battle of Nanguan, the Battle of Wu'anshahe, the Battle of Guanjia'an, the Battle of Fushan Wing City, the Battle of Fushan, the Battle of Panwu, the Battle of Daoqing, the Battle of Shangdang, the Offensive Battle of Changzhi and Huguan, the Battle of Mopan'an Mountain, and so on. It was not until the surrender of the Japanese Kou in 1945.

Because of its outstanding military achievements, especially in the night attack on Yangmingbao, Chiang Kai-shek also specially rewarded the regiment with 20,000 oceans, which was very rare in the entire Anti-Japanese War, so this regiment was called the Four Famous Regiments of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression along with the Jixing Wentu Regiment at Lugou Bridge in Beijing, the Luo Fangju Regiment in the Nankou Defense War, and the Xie Jinyuan Regiment of the Eight Hundred Heroes guarding the Shanghai Sihang Warehouse in the Songhu War of Resistance.

It is worth mentioning that the 7 regimental commanders of this regiment were also awarded the rank of major general at the lowest level in 1955, of which the first regimental commander was Chen Xilian was awarded the rank of general, the second Kong Qingde was awarded the rank of lieutenant general, the third was awarded the rank of lieutenant general, the fourth major general Zheng Guozhong, the fifth major general Ma Zhongquan, the sixth major general Zhao Lantian, and the seventh major general Li Desheng, among the seven regimental commanders, the highest position was Li Desheng, who was elected to the Politburo Standing Committee at the Tenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and the official rank was zhengguo.
