Kublai Khan was worried about money, and in a hurry to seek wealth, he appointed Ahma as the right and left department of the Zhongshu and the envoy of the various roads, and put the financial power in his hands, so that he could grasp the money. Ahma did not disappoint him, and he was deeply favored by Kublai Khan by reviving the smelting of iron, printing money, and selling medicinal herbs, so that the financial crisis could be resolved. After that, he began to act arbitrarily and violently, cracking down on dissidents, and began to carry out a sharp and violent levy on the common people in the name of cleaning up the hukou and collecting the hidden and accumulated wealth, and then arbitrarily created all kinds of harsh taxes and miscellaneous taxes, making people miserable.
It is said that Ahma once walked on the road and saw the Taiyuan people boiling salt and selling it, and the income was very rich, so he was very red-eyed. Rushing to play Shizu, he said that he wanted to increase the tax revenue of salt merchants, and the tax doubled overnight, resulting in the Taiyuan salt merchants being unprofitable. It can be seen that this Ahma can't see other people's pockets into the money! Not only that, he also raised taxes on tea, wine, vinegar and other daily consumer goods in various places, resulting in a rapid rise in prices and civil complaints. Then he used the taxes he collected to replenish the treasury, and in addition to winning the attention of the upper echelons, he put the remaining large amount of money in his pockets to satisfy his greed.
Later, his greed grew stronger and greater, as long as it was advantageous, he did nothing, did nothing, did nothing. For example, monopolizing the industry privately, buying and selling. He sold the unqualified and defective iron tools he manufactured under his hands to the people at a high price. He also used the shoddy cloth from the tax revenue of the imperial court to forcibly buy the cattle and sheep of the common people. In addition to greed, Ahma was also a prodigal man. It was rumored that he had had five hundred women in his life, and that he would pick a different woman every night to spoil him, and his life was no different from that of the emperor. However, the real history is more exaggerated than the rumors, when he was raided after his death, it was found that he had fifty wives, more than four hundred concubines alone, about four or five hundred beautiful women who were robbed and plundered, and more than a thousand people who were full of people.
Ahma's life was also extremely luxurious, decaying and extravagant. Because of the wealth and power in his hands, there is nothing in the world that he has not seen, and he has not enjoyed, that is, the pomp and circumstance of going out is extremely ostentatious. Not to mention that after the fall of the Southern Song Dynasty, Ahma's rights were even greater to the point of selling official positions in the open, and whoever gave money could become an official and a half-post under Ahma's hands.
Ahma robbed the women of the people, took bribes, committed many evils, misled the country and harmed the people. Whether it is the imperial court or the people, there are a group of righteous people who can't bear to start a life-and-death contest with Ahma. At the imperial court, when he was seriously ill, a generation of sages, Lian Xixian, advised crown prince Zhenjin to persuade the emperor to eliminate the evil Ahma as soon as possible, and asked the crown prince to join forces with other loyal ministers to resist and weaken Ahma's power. Later, Kublai Khan gradually learned of Ahma's sins, so he ordered the excavation of the tomb and the opening of the coffin, unloaded his body in eight pieces, and fed it to the dogs, and hundreds of officials and the people gathered together to watch, and the scene was exciting.
The Zuo Biao once said: "Many unrighteous deeds will kill themselves." "A bully like Ahma, who is extremely vicious and does nothing wrong, his fate is already predestined by heaven, no matter how tragic, he deserves it."
