Wei Zhongxian (1568?? 1627) was a Han Chinese, a native of Suning (present-day Suning County, Cangzhou, Hebei), whose family was poor when he was young, had not attended school, and could not read a single character. Before entering the palace, he didn't even have an official name. Because he was the fourth in the family, people called him Wei Si. As soon as Wei Si became an adult, he got married and had children, and spent all day in the streets, doing nothing. He was obsessed with wine and especially gambling. Once, after Wei Si lost all his gambling, he hid in a tavern. After being found out, he was beaten up on the street and almost lost his life. In the midst of the bursts of forced debts, Wei Si said in a hurry, "Can't I go into the palace as a eunuch and pay you back?" At that time, everyone present took this sentence as if they were in a hurry and did not choose to say anything. What I didn't expect was that Wei Si was really self-emasculated after that. This year, Wei Si was already 22 years old.
During the Ming Dynasty, it was not easy for children of poor families to enter the palace and become a small eunuch. After everyone entered the palace, they were castrated and became eunuchs. And Wei Si was old, he was all a child and his father, even if he was self-castrated, it was difficult to be elected into the palace. However, Wei Si searched for ways to overcome many difficulties and finally paid off. He took the money his family had earned from selling his daughter as a child bridesmaid, and caught up with the last selection of eunuchs in the seventeenth year of the Wanli Calendar (1590 AD). According to historical records, Wei Si was the oldest of this batch of candidates, but he was the only one to be selected. The reason why he was selected was because he became acquainted with a eunuch in the palace and went through the "back door". After entering the palace, Wei Si changed his name to "Li Jinzhong". The daily work is to get up early and dump the toilet in the front palace and do nothing the rest of the time. Originally, Wei Si, who changed his name to "Li Jinzhong", could not have become a prominent figure in the Ming Empire. In the palace, a eunuch who wants to soar to the top of the world needs three basic conditions: literacy, cunning, and ambitious. And none of these three Wei Si possessed, and the purpose of his entering the palace was only to eat enough to eat, and at most the family was not worried about food and clothing.
But history is so fortuitous. This poor man, who could not read a single character, entered the Jia Zi Library by currying favor with the great eunuch Sun Xian and became a food administrator. And this seat, yin and yang, was actually serving the prince of the Eastern Palace. Wei Si was loyal to wang cairen and the little emperor Sun around the crown prince, and the service was in place. As soon as Wang Cairen was happy, he restored his original surname and changed his name to Wei Jinzhong. Unexpectedly, The young emperor Sun Zhu Youxiao, who wei Jinzhong served, would later ascend the throne and become Emperor Mingxizong.
When Emperor Mingxi ascended the throne, he was still young and had a deep dislike for politics. He desperately needed a trustworthy man to handle his affairs in order to play in the palace wholeheartedly. This heavy responsibility naturally fell to Wei Jinzhong's body. Emperor Mingxi first appointed him as the eunuch of Bingbi, the eunuch of Bingbi, whose duty was to approve the emperor's approval. At this point, Wei Jinzhong controlled the imperial power of the Ming Dynasty. In the second year of the Apocalypse (1622), Emperor Mingxi gave Wei Jinzhong the title of "Zhongxian", which further expressed his incomparable trust and favor for Wei Zhongxian.
Throughout the Ming Dynasty, Wei Zhongxian was greatly favored by the emperor and was crowned "Chitose" by the imperial court, and later called "Nine Thousand Years", only one step away from "Banzai". The powerful Wei Zhongxian tried his best to exclude dissidents and arbitrarily rule the country. He brutally killed Zhongliang, those who followed us, and those who rebelled against us died, so that the whole court was dark, so that people "only knew that there were loyal and virtuous, but did not know that there was an emperor."
In the seventh year of the Apocalypse (1627), the 23-year-old Ming Xi Zong Zhu died of a serious illness at the school. Because he was childless, he was succeeded by his younger brother Zhu Youjian. Over the years, Zhu Youjian hated Wei Zhongxian's misdeeds to the extreme. Two months after ascending the throne, when the time was ripe, Zhu Youjian immediately declared Wei Zhongxian a great evil person and ordered him to be arrested and punished.
When Wei Zhongxian learned that the emperor was going to kill him, he knew that bad luck was coming, so he cut himself off and hanged himself.
