The Great Jade Sea of Dushan is a giant wine vessel made by Kublai Khan in 1265, which is intended to reflect the vast territory of the early Yuan Dynasty and the strength of the country.

At the beginning of the ming dynasty after the fall of the Yuan Dynasty, it was not greatly affected. However, during the Ming Dynasty, because of the fire, the Great Jade Sea of Dushan Mountain was placed in the current Beijing Zhenwu Temple. At that time, the Taoist monks did not know much about jade, and felt that the jade sea in Dushan Was huge and was a good choice for pickling pickles.
During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, because the Zhenwu Temple was rebuilt, the Great Jade Sea of Dushan Mountain was also discovered, but at that time, it was also used as a general jade and did not receive enough attention. It was not until the Qianlong period that some ministers reported to Qianlong the existence of the Great Jade Sea of the Dushan Mountains that it was able to see the light of day again, and now it has become a national treasure-level cultural relic.
Artifact identification solves the mystery
In order to solve the mystery of the Great Jade Sea in the Dushan Mountains, more than 20 experts gathered in Beijing, and the experts formed an appraisal committee to analyze and study it. It is currently the heaviest and earliest giant jade carving found in Chinese history, and its discovery is also of great significance. This jade carving is also a very rare work of art, because the carving process is very exquisite, and it is also rated as the first jade in the town.
At the appraisal meeting, experts also proposed that the great jade sea is a work of Dushan jade, and there are also Dushan jade excavations in the Yangshao cultural sites excavated before, so the two are compared, and the results obtained are also consistent. In the end, the experts announced the appraisal results to the public, and Dushan Jade once again became the focus of the world.
Research and new results
Since then, some experts have continuously carried out research on the Great Jade Sea of Dushan Mountain, and set up a corresponding research group. Through the Dushan jade material, it is also confirmed that this jade came from Nanyang, Henan, and the method of mining at that time was open-pit mining. Moreover, it is also confirmed that there are many traces of jade used by the Mongolian Yuan court in the Great Jade Sea of Dushan Mountain, and it can also be determined that its production date is in the Mongolian Yuan period.
There are also many discoveries of the restoration of the Great Jade Sea in the Qianlong period. In that year, a total of 4 times were repaired to the Great Jade Sea of Dushan Mountain, and there were also engravings, inscriptions, and a base was also built to make it more complete. On its inside are also engraved three imperial poems and prefaces of the Qianlong Emperor, which are also very worthy of study.
To sum up: for the Great Jade Sea, many people feel that its survival does have very significant historical and research value. Its existence and circulation also carry the historical and cultural changes of Beijing, so in the end, it was listed as the first of the zhenguo jade. Its existence itself is history, and it also represents the highest level of jade craftsmanship at that time.
