Foam jade is commonly known as "water foam", is a companion mineral of jadeite, translucent, similar to the water species are good waxy species, ice species or blue flower ice jadeite, many people will take water foam jade as jade, but they are very different in composition or value, water foam jade is lighter than jadeite, hardness is not as good as jade; water foam jade has no jade, more foam, white cotton; and the sound of the two is different, compared with jadeite, the sound of water foam jade is not as crisp and pleasant as jadeite. Compared with emerald foam, the refractive index is low, and the luster is relatively weak.
Dushan jade is also called Nanyang jade, its hardness is almost comparable to jadeite, French scholars call it "Nanyang jade", Dushan jade is mainly green and emerald green, the color is similar to jadeite, but if you look closely, there are still differences. The color of green Dushan jade, many colors are bluish to gray, not bright enough, and turn red under the color filter. And the green Dushan jade is often accompanied by black spots, which even strong lights cannot penetrate. The black dots in green emerald are usually less common and appear emerald green in bright light. In terms of luster, the polishing surface of Dushan jade is often uneven, the polishing quality is often not good, and the grease or waxy luster is obvious.
Hetian jade is mainly abundant in China's Xinjiang region, Hetian jade and jadeite are one of the famous jade in China, similar to jadeite, Hetian jade, there are two main varieties: Hetian jasper, with bright green white jade.
They differ from jadeite: in general, the refractive index of nephrite (1.61 to 1.62), the relative density (2.95 to 3.05), are smaller than the polished jasper of jadeite (3.203.39), compared with jadeite have different luster and surface characteristics, often appear greasy luster, such as orange peel phenomenon, green and sand grains, basically difficult to see with the naked eye.
Green jasper is similar to melon green jadeite, and in terms of color tone, it will be difficult to distinguish. But if you look closely, the color distribution of green jasper is more even, and sometimes a square black patch is visible.
Also in the market, nephrite "Kunjiao" looks like water stone, but the sand particles on the shell are not obvious, and the feel is lighter than that of jadeite. If there is a fracture, jagged features can be seen, which are different from jadeite grainy fractures.
Australian jade is produced in the Maribor and Kalgur deposits in Australia, as well as in the United States, Brazil and the former Soviet Union. Australian jade is a green chalcedony, the color is very uniform, the green performance is very delicate, and the distribution is quite even.
Its appearance resembles emerald, like the sunny green, apple green and clear water color in jadeite. It is often used to impersonate jadeite, but unlike jadeite. It does not have variations in jadeite's hue, chromaticity, or hue. Although the color is green and more vivid, it has a sense of floating, a tender feeling in the bright, and a blue or yellow hue in the green. The proportion and refractive index of Australian jade are different from jadeite, and the proportion of Australian jade will be relatively light compared with the proportion of jadeite, the proportion of Australian jade is 2.60, and the proportion of jadeite is 3.24 to 3.43. We can feel this with a gentle swipe of our hand. The refractive index of Australian jade is 1.55, and the refractive index of jadeite is 1.7. Of course, good quality Australian jade is not cheap to sell at the Hong Kong Jewellery Show.
