Ahma was a Hui, his birth year unknown, he was originally just a dowry slave, and his status was terrible. But it was such a slave who could observe and judge his words, and successfully won the favor of Kublai Khan. So he became a transporter, specializing in financial management.
I have to say that this person's financial management means are still very powerful, mainly including the following aspects. First, increase taxes. In that backward era, the only way to increase taxes was to collect taxes on the necessities of life, such as salt that everyone had to eat. Ahma then took over the right to distribute salt to the government and prohibited private sales or production of salt. He also set up a special patrol to prevent this from happening, and it has to be said that his measures are very effective.
Second, he set up an iron smelting industry. He took advantage of the government's possession of resources to mine iron ore to create agricultural tools, and then used these agricultural tools to exchange grain for farmers, and exchanged 40,000 stones of grain in just one year. He also developed an audit method, and every year officials would go to the local government to conduct financial audits to avoid corruption of local officials.
The third is the governance of official corruption. In fact, when the Mongols entered the Central Plains, there was no salary, so the officials appointed by the imperial court had to solve the salary problem in their own jurisdiction, which made the officials squeeze the people legally. The people were oppressed and miserable, so Ahmad formulated a wage system according to the means of the previous dynasty to prevent the oppression of the people from happening again.
Fourth, the issuance of paper money. Although paper money has been issued in the Song Dynasty, but there is no large-scale circulation, the real circulation is in the Yuan Dynasty period, paper money as a pure currency began to circulate, which has a great significance in the history of the world. However, the issuance of paper money led to inflation, which made the financial crisis of the Yuan Dynasty more serious.
But it was such a measure that made Ahma a red man on Kublai Khan's side, and he suddenly became the prime minister and the most powerful person under Kublai Khan. It was at this time that Ahma began to swell, he began to amass wealth in a big way, and even used his power to recruit beautiful women to serve him, and lived a very luxurious life.
Ahma's behavior was very dissatisfied with the official Wang Zhu, so he joined forces with a monk and planned an assassination of Ahma. The assassination was so successful that Ahma was killed by a hammer from wang. When Kublai Khan learned of this, he was so angry that he ordered wang to be executed along with the monk.
After Ahma's death, someone came out to explain Ahma's crimes, and when Kublai Khan learned of it, he ordered ahma's home to be raided. As a result, countless gold and silver treasures were found in Ahma's home, but also two human skins were found in the cabinet of one of Ahma's concubines. Kublai Khan then asked the people around him what the human skin was used for, and the people around him replied: This is used to curse others. Kublai Khan thought this was a hint at himself, so he ordered Ahma to be cut up in a coffin! Taking back all his titles, Ahma's body was dismembered in full view of everyone, and the scene was very tragic.
As a famous courtier in the early Yuan Dynasty, Ahma still played a certain role in the economic development of the Yuan Dynasty, especially the issuance of paper money, which has great significance in the world. But it is a pity that he cannot control his desires, and finally ended up in such a fate, which is really regrettable.
