◆ Wang Naigui

Wang Naigui served as the commander of three divisions in the Red Fourth Front. In 1933, at the age of 28, he became the commander of the 10th Division of the 4th Red Army. The red 4th Army had two other divisions: Chen Zaidao , commander of the 11th Division ( founding general ) , and Zhang Caiqian ( founding lieutenant general ) of the 12th Division . Wang Naigui later served as the commander of the 90th Division and the 89th Division of the Red 30th Army.

In September 1933, in the Battle of Yingqu against the enemy's Sixth Road "encirclement and suppression" in the Sichuan-Shaanxi base area, Wang Naigui led the 90th Division of the Red 30th Army to attack Dingshanchang. From the several "tongues" caught by the reconnaissance company, it was learned that the enemy brigade headquarters was located in the center of the town, the defense focus was on the frontal passage, the cliffs on the east and west sides were relatively loosely defended, the enemy army was afraid of the Red Army's night battle, the defense was tight before 12 o'clock in the evening, and many officers and men had to smoke a lot in the second half of the night. Based on this, Wang Naigui decided to attack DingshanChang at night, commanding the troops to launch a feint attack on the front at 1 a.m., and two battalions climbed up from the cliffs on both sides, directly attacked the enemy brigade headquarters, and captured the enemy brigade commander alive. The Red Army occupied Dingshan Field in only ten minutes, completely annihilated the enemy, and cooperated with the front army to liberate the two county towns of Yingshan and Quxian.

In the spring of 1935, Wang Naigui participated in the Long March of the Four Fronts Army, leading his troops to capture Cangxi, Yilong, Qingchuan, and Pingwu, blocking the enemy's southward movement in Gansu, and blocking the enemy in the Beichuan River Valley for more than a month, covering the westward advance of the main force. During the Long March, he crossed the meadow three times, and the first time he crossed the meadow, his unit was an advance division, which opened the way for the main force and raised a large amount of grain. The day before crossing the snowy mountain, Wang Naigui saw that Gao Houliang, the instructor of the company, was wearing only a single coat, so he said to him worriedly: "Tomorrow I will cross the snowy mountain, how can you wear so little?" Gao Houliang said, "There are no clothes!" Wang Naigui didn't say a word, and took off a large black cotton jacket he was wearing and put it on Gao Houliang. Gao Houliang, who later served as the political commissar of the Air Force, always remembered Wang Naigui's comradeship on the Long March Road, and he often said: "Without that cotton jacket, I can't cross the snowy mountain!" He wasn't asked what he was wearing at the time. It wasn't until he met Wang Naigui in Wuhan in 1984 that Gao Houliang finally asked this question that had been in his mind for half a century, and Wang Naigui said lightly: "I'll do it again!" ”

After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Wang Naigui served as the deputy commander of the 769th Regiment of the 385th Brigade of the 129th Division. In mid-October 1937, the 769th Regiment, as the vanguard of the 129th Division, reached the north of Dongye Village in Wutai County. Wang Naigui and regimental commander Chen Xilian secretly arrived near the west bank of the Tuotuo River for reconnaissance, and the Yangmingbao airfield on the opposite bank and the deployment of the Japanese army were reflected in their telescopes. The Japanese planes painted with sun markings took off like a swarm of wasps, and the airport was like a honeycomb. When the regimental headquarters was studying whether to fight or not to hit the airport, Wang Naigui said quickly: "Simply poke this honeycomb!" At 11 o'clock in the evening, Wang Naigui, known as the "Desperate Sanlang," led 3 battalions into the Japanese airfield, and 24 demolition teams pounced on their respective prey like tigers descending the mountain, smashing the glass of the Japanese aircraft cabin, and stuffing bundles of grenades into the "belly" of the plane. Chiang Kai-shek not only issued a commendation order, but also issued a bonus of 20,000 yuan to reward the troops who participated in the battle of Yangmingbao.

In December of that year, Liu Bocheng, commander of the 129th Division, sent Wang Naigui to form an independent detachment to operate south of Zhengtai Road and west of Pinghan Road to expand the anti-Japanese base area. Wang Naigui felt embarrassed: "It is okay to ask me to lead the soldiers to fight, and let me go to the team to expand the territory, and I must smash the pot." I can't read a few big characters, and it is a problem to remember a instruction to read a document, how can I pick up this burden? Liu Bocheng said solemnly: "First, I don't call you the King of the Mountains, and second, I don't call you Kao Xiucai." Make a revolution, fight Japan, you are an expert. This commander is none other than you, and you have to find a way to be good! On December 12, an independent detachment with the 7th Company of the 769th Regiment and the 8th Company of the Division's Accompanying Battalion School as the backbone was established in Xiyang, Shanxi, with Wang Naigui as the commander of the detachment, known as the "Wang Naigui Detachment". Under his leadership, the troops snowballed bigger and bigger, and were the "old bottom" for the 48th Division of the 16th Army of the People's Liberation Army.

In 1947, Wang Naigui was appointed brigade commander of the 35th Brigade of the 12th Column of the East China Field Army. Under his leadership, the brigade became the best unit of the 12th Column to fight mobile warfare. In 1948, in the Battle of Huaihai, the task of the 12th Column was to attack the airfield southeast of Xuzhou. Xie Zhenhua, the commander of the column, entrusted the heavy responsibility of the main attack to Wang Naigui's 35th Brigade. Wang Naigui commanded three regiments to which he belonged, bypassed the enemy garrison troops who had tightly sealed the airfield, took advantage of the night to enter the airport, used mortars to destroy the enemy airfield and warehouse, fired several planes, blew up the airfield command post, and fled in a daze. Wang Naigui led his troops to quickly take control of the airport.
