After the Red 4th Front withdrew from the Eyu-Anhui Soviet Zone, a new Soviet Zone was created in December 1932 on the Sichuan-Shaanxi border. In June 1933, the headquarters of the Red 4th Front held a military conference at Nanjiangmumen and decided to expand the original 5 divisions into 4 corps, and the red 4th Army was used again.
The newly established Red 4th Army has three divisions under its jurisdiction, namely the 10th Division, the 11th Division, and the 12th Division, and the division commanders are Wang Naigui, Chen Zaidao, and Zhang Caiqian. Later, when these three division commanders were awarded the ranks of our army for the first time, Chen Zaidao and Zhang Caiqian were awarded the ranks of general and lieutenant general respectively, and Wang Naigui only awarded the rank of major general.
It should be said that during the Period of the Long March, Wang Naigui, Chen Zaidao, and Zhang Caiqian developed simultaneously, and later the gap between them was during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Red Army was reorganized into the Eighth Route Army, Chen Zaidao served as the deputy brigade commander of the 386th Brigade of the 129th Division, and later served as the commander of the Eastward Column of the Eighth Route Army, and later he led his troops to create the Ji'nan Military Region, and the troops also grew from 500 to more than 10,000 people.
After the Red Army was reorganized into the Eighth Route Army, Zhang Caiqian began to be the commander of the 770th Regiment of the 385th Brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, and later served as the commander and political commissar of the 4th Detachment of the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Detachment of the Eighth Route Army in Western Henan, the commander and political commissar of the 4th Military Subdistrict of the Western Henan Military Region, and the brigade commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 1st Column of the Central Plains Military Region.
So, what about Wang Naigui?
When the Red Army was reorganized into the Eighth Route Army, Wang Yonggui was appointed deputy commander of the 769th Regiment of the 385th Brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, and the regimental commander was Chen Xilian (later awarded as a general), and it should be said that his starting point was not low. In october 1937, during the night attack on Yangmingbao, Wang Naigui led 3 battalions to raid the Japanese airfield, destroying 24 enemy aircraft parked in the airfield, taking a good record.
Later, Wang Naigui also served as deputy brigade commander of the 385th Brigade, commander of the 8th Detachment of the Eastward Column, and deputy brigade commander of the newly formed 10th Brigade.
First, Wang Naigui's level of education was not high, so when the 129th Division advanced eastward, it did not perform well in mobilizing the masses and expanding the army, and did not form an independent area like the Ji'nan Military Region and Zhang Caiqian's 4th Military Subdistrict of the Western Henan Military Region.
Second, after the breakthrough in the Central Plains, he was assigned to the East China Field Army and left his old unit, so he only served as the brigade commander of the 35th Brigade of the 12th Column of the East China Field Army in the Liberation War.
Third, after the founding of New China, he only served as the deputy commander of the provincial military region.
In short, it is normal that Wang Naigui was later awarded the rank of major general, and there was no problem of low award. The key problem is that after the beginning of the War of Resistance, he belonged to the high and low, or it can be said that he belonged to a phenomenon of "not advancing, retreating".
Although Wang Naigui was only awarded the rank of major general, his revolutionary exploits could not be erased or buried, and in 1955 he was awarded three first-class medals. On June 6, 1991, General Wang Naigui died at the age of 85.
