Cheng Yuechang (1911 - May 1961), a native of Huang'an, Hubei Province, joined the Red Army in 1929 and served as a platoon leader of the International Regiment of the Young Communists of the Red Fourth Front, a platoon leader and company commander of the Red 31st Army, and a political commissar of the division hospital. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as an instructor of the health team of the 772nd Regiment of the 386th Brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, a battalion instructor, a political commissar of the New 1st Regiment, a political commissar of the 16th Regiment, and a regimental commander. Later, he served as the commander of the New Fourth Brigade, the commander of the 17th Division of the 6th Army of Yiye, and participated in the Yan'an Defense War, the Battle of Xifu, and the march into Xinjiang, and was awarded the rank of major general in 1955.
The 25th Regiment, headed by Ge Haizhou.
Ge Haizhou (1912-2010), a native of Jinzhai, Anhui, joined the Red Army in 1929 and successively served as a platoon leader, instructor and political commissar in the Red 4th Army, the Red 25th Army, and the Red 31st Army, and participated in the Long March. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as the deputy commander of the guerrilla brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, the director of the political department of the second brigade of the independent detachment, the commander of the 30th regiment of the 10th Brigade, and the commander of the 25th regiment of the New Ninth Brigade. Later, he served as the commander of the 3rd Regiment of the 1st Police Brigade, the deputy commander of the New 10th Division, the commander of the Rapid Advance Column of the Headquarters, and the commander of the Zhangye Military Sub-district. He participated in the Battle of Defending Yan'an, the Battle of Wazijie, the Battle of Xifu, the Battle of Fumei, the Battle of Lanzhou, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. He was awarded the rank of colonel in 1955.
