In the Sino-Vietnamese War, the commander of this division hid in the mountains as soon as he entered the battlefield, and only after 28 days did our army withdraw its troops

In the 1979 counterattack, vietnam had a 346th infantry division, and the commander of this infantry division was named Hoang Binh Shan, who was at the rank of colonel in Vietnam. The division had a total of 8,500 men. These 8,500 people should not be underestimated, because most of them were soldiers and armed militias of the time. In other words, these 8,500 people can become Vietnamese farmers or soldiers. The super combat effectiveness and difficulty in catching are a major hidden danger in the hearts of our army. When the war broke out, this division had been stubbornly resisting Gaoping and our army, so that our army's front line was very long and could not be closed in time.

However, our army sought advantages and avoided disadvantages, and during the entire Gaoping Campaign, it started with the easiest fighting, the first to capture Gaoping, then the Shuo River, the second to tongnong, and so on. The same was true of the 346th Division, which first wiped out the local troops in the 346th Division, then eliminated its public security, and then wiped out all its regular troops, until the militia that could be used by the people was ambushed one by one. However, this battle in Gaoping was the largest in China's self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, with the largest number of troops invested, the longest duration, and the largest number of casualties on both sides. Fortunately, this 346th Division was hit hard by our army. Annihilated 70% of the division's forces. Among the Vietnamese generals who were killed were a lieutenant colonel's regimental commander, a major's deputy political commissar, a lieutenant's deputy regimental commander, and the entire division was also completely scattered.

Here, you may ask, where did Huang Bianshan, the commander of this division, go? Yes, he was the commander of the division that escaped, and after the entire division of 346 was scattered, he fled to the mountains of Gaoping. After the division was dispersed, our army searched for his tracks in the mountains many times, but found no trace of him. I have to say that this person may have a big life. Finally, after searching repeatedly for half a month, but still not finding his whereabouts, it was judged that he may have been killed on the battlefield. It was not until March 16, 1979, when all our army withdrew and returned to China to declare victory in the war, that the commander of this division, Huang Bianshan, came out.

After Huang Binh Son came out, he found the Vietnamese government, but after the war he was dismissed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense and later punished by Vietnam for treason. After a few years, the Vietnamese government made several military achievements in the 346th Division, and remembered that he had evaded in order to preserve his strength, so it reinstated him as an official. The 346th Division was also awarded the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by Vietnam. In fact, it was this division that allowed our army to extend the attack time. Our army itself should have ended the battle 28 days ago, but because the remnants of the 346th Division had not been paid, it had to be delayed, and when it was not possible to return home, it ordered a total retreat. In fact, when the retreat was made, the remaining troops were still not surrendered.
