After Empress Xiaozhuang died and was buried in the palace for 37 years, why did Kangxi not want to bury him?

On December 25, the twenty-sixth year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1687), empress Xiaozhuang, who had protected and trained two generations of historical figures of Shunzhi and Kangxi, died, and Kangxi placed the remains of Xiaozhuang in the "Temporary An Fengdian Hall", which was placed for 37 years, until November 21, 1724, the second year of Yongzheng (1724), when the tomb of Empress Xiaozhuang was officially named "Zhaoxi Mausoleum". So, why didn't the burial in time drag on for 37 years? Is it because Kangxi was not filial piety? Follow the author to find out.

Xiaozhuang was born in February of the 41st year of the Ming Dynasty (March 1613), surnamed Borzit, named Bumubutai, born in the Horqin tribe of Mongolia, and was the daughter of BelleZhaisang. In 1625, according to the needs of the Manchu-Mongolian marriage, she married the eighth son of the Later Jin (Qing) Khan Nurhaci, the fourth Beyler Emperor Taiji. In the first year of Chongde (1636), Emperor Taiji changed his name to Emperor Daqing and made him a concubine of Yongfu Palace.

In the third year of Chongde, that is, in 1639, she gave birth to the ninth son of the emperor, Fu Lin, and then Fu Linsi took the throne, for Shunzhi, and she was honored as the empress dowager. Later, her grandson Xuan Ye (玄也嗣) took the throne as Kangxi, and she was honored as empress dowager. Because she was a concubine of Emperor Taiji of Emperor Taizongwen, and her sons and grandsons were all emperors, she was called "Empress Xiaozhuangwen" in history, and is generally called Xiaozhuang.

Some people believe that Xiaozhuang was married to Dolgun, and Xiaozhuang had no face to face the Emperor Taiji after his death, so he chose not to be buried with the Emperor Taiji, and there was no suitable place to bury Xiaozhuang at that time, so it dragged on for 37 years. They believe that when Emperor Taiji died, Concubine Zhuang was only 32 years old, and Fu Lin, who was only 6 years old, inherited the unification, and at that time, it was actually The Prince of Rui who was in charge of the military and political power of the dprk, Dolgun, who held heavy troops and became a figure in the dprk, and even the emperor's jade seal was placed in the palace of Prince Rui, and the little emperor was in danger of being deposed at any time.

Moreover, those who hold the view of marrying also emphasize that in the Shunzhi Dynasty, Dorgon openly presented himself as the father of the emperor, and the title was called "Emperor Father Regent", and only when the emperor's mother married, Dorgon could be called "Emperor Father". They believe that the change in Dorgon's title reflects the process of the empress dowager's marriage to Dorgon from secret to public.

According to historical records, when the Shunzhi Emperor came to power, Guannei was in chaos, and in March 1644, the mighty Li Zicheng led a peasant rebel army to conquer the city of Beijing, and the Chongzhen Emperor hanged himself at Coal Mountain (present-day Jingshan), and the Ming Dynasty, which had ruled China for 276 years, collapsed. As the younger brother of Emperor Taiji, Dorgon played a very important role in assisting the young Shunzhi succession and consolidating the Qing Dynasty's power, and his title was also changing, from the original "Uncle Regent", to "Emperor Uncle Regent", and finally to "Emperor Father Regent", these titles do not indicate that Xiaozhuang married Dorgon.

It is undeniable that Xiaozhuang made an indelible contribution to the young Shunzhi ascending the throne and stabilizing the overall political situation at that time, and even though Dorgon was in a high position of power at that time, there is no reliable historical record that Xiaozhuang "committed to marriage".

Since it is not "committed to marrying", is it really because Kangxi is not filial piety and does not care about his old grandmother? Of course, it certainly isn't. The real reason is recorded in the "Later Biography of Xiaozhuang":

"The matter behind me is hereby instructed ru, Emperor Taizongwen's palace has been enshrined for a long time, and he is humble and dignified, and he has not been buried together at this time; if he raises another Ying domain, it will not be the meaning of a joint burial; I am in love with Ru father and son, and I cannot bear to stay away, so I will choose to be buried near your father's tomb."

Of course, Kangxi did not want to disobey Xiaozhuang's will, but there was no tomb to bury at that time. Because Shunzhi is the son of Xiaozhuang, in the Xiaoling Tomb, the most honorable position has buried Shunzhi, if Xiaozhuang is buried in it, it will be chaotic, but Xiaozhuang is not willing to be buried with the Emperor Taiji, and as a grandson, he cannot violate the will, so he can only be placed in the "Temporary An Feng Hall".
