In the context of double carbon, hydrogen energy, with its advantages of zero carbon cycle, is an important direction for the future transformation of the energy industry and even the entire national economic structure, and is an important means to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.

On December 14, under the guidance of shanghai science and technology association, Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Commercialization Promotion Center, Shanghai Yangtze River Delta Hydrogen Energy Science and Technology Research Institute, Jiading Hydrogen Energy Port and other units jointly held the 2021 Shanghai Hydrogen Energy Industry Development High-end Forum in the Science Hall.

The theme of this forum is: Hydrogen energy for 20 years, igniting the future. The forum is not only a summary and review of the efforts made by China's hydrogen energy and fuel cell technology in the past two decades, but also a prospect for the development of the hydrogen energy industry in the future, taking the opportunity to promote the realization of the double carbon target and better promote the discussion and re-departure of the development of the hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industry.

In 2001, the national "863" electric vehicle plan was launched, proposing three major technical routes of pure electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell. At that time, Wan Gang, then dean of the School of Automotive of Tongji University (currently the vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology) and other leaders from all walks of life and the scientific judgment of industry experts, with Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Power System Co., Ltd. and other entities as the support, fuel cell vehicles as a new breakthrough in China's automobile industry, committed to the research and development of new energy vehicle power system platform.

Subsequently, the successful development of the No. 1 fuel cell vehicle system has epoch-making significance, and the results have been applied to major scenarios such as the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, playing an important demonstration and leading role.

"Nowadays, Shanghai has formed hydrogen energy industry bases such as Jiading and Lingang, and basically formed a whole industrial chain from parts and components, vehicle manufacturing to infrastructure operation." Liu Ping, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, revealed in his speech that by 2023, Shanghai will plan to build 100 hydrogen refueling stations.

Whether it is carbon peaking, carbon neutrality, or the development of hydrogen energy industry and fuel cell vehicles, it is inseparable from scientific and technological support, which is not only an unprecedented scientific and technological challenge, but also a once-in-a-lifetime innovation stage.

Shanghai Association for Science and Technology gives full play to the advantages of expert resources and platform network, actively organizes its affiliated societies, and organizes multi-level and multi-type academic forums around the goal of double carbon, such as successively holding the "Hydrogen Energy Industry Development Summit Forum under the Double Carbon Strategy" and "Yangtze River Delta Hydrogen Energy Technology Summit Forum", which has aroused widespread concern in the industry and society and achieved good social effects.

At the forum, a "200kw high-power fuel cell engine" was unveiled synchronously, representing a new stage in Shanghai's hydrogen fuel cell industry.

On the same day, experts from the United Nations Development Programme, Germany, the United States, Canada, Japan, Shanghai and other international organizations, countries and regions reviewed the development of the hydrogen energy industry and looked forward to the future. The forum also set up new product physical display unveiling, wisdom sharing and other links, unshipped energy, combustion power and other enterprises also released high-power fuel cell engines, and signed a "multi-scenario" project.
