If one person is infected, the whole family must be cured!

It is said that Helicobacter pylori, if someone in the family has been detected to be infected with "Helicobacter pylori", it may be that the whole family should pay attention! This is due to the fact that Helicobacter pylori is mainly transmitted by mouth, and the way we eat together in our family is very easy to lead to infection for the whole family.

According to the "Fifth National Consensus Report on the Treatment of Helicobacter pylori Infection", the current infection rate of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) in China is still about 50%, according to which it is estimated that about half of the Chinese people are infected with Helicobacter pylori.

Helicobacter pylori is also considered one of the culprits of stomach cancer. As early as 1994, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) under the World Health Organization (WHO) had designated Helicobacter pylori as a Class I carcinogen.

One person infected with the whole family must be cured!

Recently, the "Consensus Report on the Prevention, Control and Management of Helicobacter pylori Infection in Chinese Households (2021 Edition)" was released in gut (gastrointestinal disease), a well-known medical journal in the field of gastrointestinal tract, pointing out that Helicobacter pylori infection is to a large extent a familial disease.

Among them, the consensus put forward these 5 points, we should pay special attention to: 1. Intra-family transmission is an important route of Helicobacter pylori infection Intrafamily transmission is an important route of Helicobacter pylori infection. Family members' risk of infection is related to family habits, ethnicity, health, socioeconomic status, and family size. Numerous studies in China and around the world have shown that there is a significant family aggregation of Helicobacter pylori infection: when parents have Helicobacter pylori infection, the rate of Helicobacter pylori infection in their children is significantly increased; there is also transmission between spouses and siblings. 2. Helicobacter pylori is mainly transmitted through the oral route in the family There are three forms of transmission of Helicobacter pylori in the family, mainly through the oral route. "Mouth-to-mouth transmission", sharing the same food utensils, chewing food for feeding; eating contaminated meat, milk, vegetables and other foods, drinking contaminated water; poor hygiene habits, etc. It is recommended to divide meals, use chopsticks, spoons, etc., eat healthy and safe foods, and avoid chewing and feeding infants and young children.

"Shared utensils spread", shared food containers or dental equipment, etc. It is recommended to clean food containers and use safe dental equipment. "Fecal-oral transmission", eating food contaminated with excrement, drinking contaminated water, and untreated water such as well water. Prevention recommends eating only hygienic, safe food and water.

3. Family members infected with Helicobacter pylori are always a potential source of infection

People infected with Helicobacter pylori rarely recover without treatment, and when living with a family member infected with Helicobacter pylori, other members are at increased risk of infection, but whether the infection is related to the closeness and genetic background of the exposure.

4. Most Helicobacter pylori infections occur in childhood and adolescence

Intra-family transmission is the main route of infection in children with Helicobacter pylori, mainly by parents, especially mothers. The results of many surveys in China suggest that the rate of Helicobacter pylori infection in children increases with age. 5. All adult Helicobacter pylori infection in the family, it is generally recommended that the international consensus on eradication therapy is generally recommended, unless there is a countervailing factor, eradication of Helicobacter pylori can eliminate the source of infection, reduce the possibility of infection in the population, and prevent serious complications, and eradication of Helicobacter pylori before gastric mucosal atrophy and intestinal metaplasia can reduce the risk of gastric cancer.

Zhang Wenhong:

Eat like this at home

All I saw was germs!

In April 2020, Professor Zhang Wenhong, director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, mentioned that the meal sharing system should be implemented at home, in addition to preventing the new crown, it is also necessary to prevent the spread of Helicobacter pylori.

Professor Zhang Wenhong said, "I can't see the way to eat together, eat together with a chopstick to pick vegetables, drink wine, you see the cup, chopsticks, I see all the germs." ”

If one person is infected, the whole family must be cured! Zhang Wenhong: Eating like this at home, all you see is germs!

Zhang Wenhong said that from an epidemiological point of view, the significance of the meal sharing system is very important. It is not that eating Chinese food is eaten by "guys" in one piece, and Chinese food is also divided, depending on how to look at this matter. Whether at home or abroad, meal sharing is of great significance in blocking the spread of disease.

No chopsticks

How unhygienic is it?

Previously, 11 experts from the Health Hazard Monitoring Institute and the Inspection Center of the Hangzhou Cd-operative Center went to the restaurant to do an experiment for this purpose!

With no chopsticks, what is the difference? The experimental team chose a nearby restaurant and ordered a total of 6 dishes, namely: 1. cold cucumber 2. Brine shrimp 3. Dried pot tea tree mushrooms 4. Fried asparagus 5. Pickle octopus 6. Spicy bullfrogs

They divided each dish into two portions, one using male chopsticks and one without chopsticks, and in addition, they specially ordered a dish as a blank comparison.

Before eating, the disease control staff took sterile gloves, disinfected the forceps with an alcohol lamp, and collected a sample of the meal, which was 40 minutes.

Then, it's the "brain-burning" eating session! Sandwiching the same dish must be carried out alternately using public chopsticks and not using public chopsticks, and each time you eat it, you must mentally "calculate", in order to ensure that the number of chopsticks touching the dish is consistent.

After the meal, the CDC staff took another sample. A total of 19 food samples were taken before and after meals.

Then, wait for 48 h for colony culture time. The experimental results show that comparing the total number of colonies in the remaining part of the two sets of dishes of "public chopsticks" and "non-public chopsticks", the total number of colonies in the "non-public chopsticks" group is all higher than that of the "public chopsticks" group! Moreover, some even have a difference of more than 10 times, such as the dish of dried pot tea tree mushrooms.

If one person is infected, the whole family must be cured! Zhang Wenhong: Eating like this at home, all you see is germs!

Hangzhou Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds: the use of public chopsticks will significantly reduce the bacterial pollution in dishes, without the use of public chopsticks, on the one hand, everyone may pass the bacteria carried by their own mouth and nose to the dishes through chopsticks, on the other hand, it will also lead to cross-contamination of bacteria carried by different dishes themselves (especially cold dishes), which increases the chance of bacterial growth. The spread of germs means the spread of diseases.

After experiencing the epidemic, I hope to change some of our concepts and habits. At least in the use of public chopsticks, it is no longer a slogan. The use of public chopsticks or meal sharing does not mean that the friendship and traditional culture are lost, everyone still eats at the same table and shares the food together, but there is only one more process of serving rice.

This process is also very simple to achieve, such as: adding chopsticks or spoons to each dish; dividing meals directly into family members' exclusive meals and drinking utensils at home. This process of serving rice is more, but it ensures the health of everyone.
