With the announcement of the "double carbon" target in China, the industrial policy at the national level has been intensively implemented. In October this year, the State Council issued the "2030 Carbon Peak Action Plan", which once again pointed out the direction for the future development of China's automobiles.

At the same time, post-95s and post-00s consumers are entering the market on a large scale, although their market energy has not yet occupied the mainstream, but it only takes about 10 years, they will certainly become the main force of automobile consumption. And 10 years later, it is also the key year of carbon peaking in 2030.

China's auto industry is facing both external and internal pressures. China FAW's thoughts and actions

The biggest difficulty in achieving the "double carbon" goal in the automotive industry is that it is difficult to fully achieve the goal by relying on the existing technology path. New technologies must be developed, to be intelligent, to help data management, and the task node must be "front-ended", that is, to achieve the carbon peak target in 2030 in advance, leaving enough time room for follow-up new technology research.

As early as November 2020, China FAW released the "Innovation • 2030" R.Flag Technology Development Strategy" to specifically elaborate the implementation path of China FAW in green, low-carbon and digital intelligence transformation.

The Hongqi brand is the core business leader of China FAW and also plays the heavy responsibility of revitalizing the national automobile brand. Therefore, whether China FAW can achieve green, low-carbon and digital and intelligent transformation, we must first look at the red flag.

Xu Liuping, secretary of the party committee and chairman of China FAW, said at the press conference of China FAW's "14th Five-Year Plan" development plan and technological innovation strategy in July this year that by 2025, new energy models will account for 40% of FAW Hongqi. Once the actual sales of new energy models reach 40% (non-penetration), the carbon peak target has been exceeded.

For the automotive industry, Carbon Peak relies on the improvement of fuel vehicle fuel efficiency and thermal efficiency, also relies on the post-life cycle of new energy vehicles (including low emissions after the vehicle goes off the production line), and relies more on green deployment in the production stage.

In this way, project management, production processes and product research and production and marketing data are at hand. Positioned in the world's first high-end pure electric sedan E-QM5 tailored for "Wonderful Travel", with more than 200 patented technologies, it supports both power exchange mode and charging mode, and emits only 103 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer, which is the core carrier of Hongqi brand's implementation of the "five-chain" EcoLin5 integration of new development model and carbon peak carbon neutrality strategy.

Let commercial vehicles also embrace "double carbon"

Another highlight of Faw's digital innovation is commercial vehicles. According to the "double carbon" goal, FAW Jiefang has also formulated the "Blue Road Strategy" (15333 plan), that is, in 5 commercial vehicle scenarios, through 3 new energy paths, to achieve 3 major areas of layout, for customers to establish 3 new energy service systems.

FAW Jiefang will focus its production capacity on pure electric vehicles and power battery production bases featuring "zero carbon factories", hydrogen energy industry clusters and "wind and solar energy". That is, starting from the source of production, to achieve low-carbon discharge throughout the life cycle.

Commercial vehicles are different from passenger cars, and the former has high-frequency use scenarios, resulting in greater dependence on energy replenishment facilities. Through "vehicle-to-electricity separation", China FAW provides customers with battery-free chassis, provides a power mode for batteries, and allows users to reduce costs in operation through facility support. To this end, FAW Jiefang is promoting the establishment of commercial vehicle replacement standards and sharing platforms with competitors.

In terms of digital intelligence, FAW Jiefang plans to complete the development of new platforms equipped with modular chassis, intelligent assemblies, ultra-low wind resistance cabs, and centralized EE architectures by 2030 to realize the "exclusiveization of the vehicle platform" of new energy. Through the three-step process of "electrification of traditional vehicles", "intelligentization of core assembly numbers" and "exclusiveization of vehicle platforms", we will realize the "first in China and the world-class" in new energy vehicle products.

In terms of electrification, FAW Jiefang has focused on the layout of hybrid products, and has developed products with P0, P2, PS and other configurations, which can increase the fuel saving rate of the system by 9%-30%; at the same time, actively layout new energy vehicle business such as fuel cells and power batteries, master relevant product development, integrated control and manufacturing technologies, and make technical reserves for the future comprehensive electrification of the industry.

Through the continuous formulation and deployment of the "Liberation Chuangling" plan and the "Liberation of Smart Power Domain" brand, FAW Jiefang is committed to transforming from a vehicle manufacturer into a provider of smart transportation solutions. Its "Columbus" plan is an open platform covering driverless trucks, smart factories, and smart distribution, and its core is the development of autonomous driving technology. On the basis of strengthening self-research, FAW Jiefang also unites "external intelligence" to achieve "intelligent ecology" faster.

In the two major fields of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, China FAW will form a complete power projection chain of "digital intelligence" and is producing a "ripple effect". Consumers in both major fields have already generated good feedback on the digital intelligence advocated by China FAW. From January to 11 months this year, Hongqi's sales reached 261,400 units, an increase of 46.7% year-on-year; from January to August this year, Jiefang sold 370,600 vehicles, an increase of 2.91% year-on-year, of which 306,900 heavy-duty trucks, an increase of 4.72%.
