In 2008, at the age of 30, Wang Zhi was selected to participate in the trial production of a V-type 12-cylinder engine. It is the first self-developed top passenger car engine in mainland China, which will be used for the Hongqi parade car for the 60th anniversary of the National Day.

During the trial production process, Wang Zhi successively solved a number of technical problems such as cylinder head combustion chamber error, ultra-fine oblique long hole processing, cylinder body spindle hole accuracy control, camshaft hole coaxial degree error control, etc., refined 12 operation methods, and completed the task excellently.

On National Day in 2009, the Red Flag parade car appeared in Tiananmen Square, and Wang Zhi and his co-workers who watched the live broadcast had red eyes. The engines they process have filled the gap in the manufacture of domestic V-engines, so that the Hongqi parade car has a Chinese "heart".

In the trial production and processing of engine crankshaft, Wang Zhi continued to explore and debug, defined more than 300 technical parameters, designed 42 kinds of fixtures, and mastered the key technologies and methods of crankshaft processing technology;

In terms of the design of knife volume auxiliary clamps, Wang Zhi has designed more than 200 sets of special tooling and more than 200 modified tools. He designed the guiding wall fixture and the sub-guidance processing method, which successfully solved the processing problem of the long shaft hole of the first longitudinal double-clutch transmission shell in China;

He led the team to complete the trial production task of the first V-type 8-cylinder direct injection supercharged engine in China, and Phi Xing Dai Yue compressed the trial production cycle of the first finished engine to 30 days;

He completed the trial production and processing task of ice knives in the snowmobile project of the Beijing Winter Olympics, and helped achieve a breakthrough of "zero" domestic snowmobiles;

In recent years, he has participated in the independent processing of core components such as GB, V6, V8 and other more than 20 engines, DCT full range transmissions, new energy reducers, passenger car trans axles and so on.

So far, Wang Zhi has overcome more than 90 key research projects and solved more than 260 technical problems, providing a strong guarantee for independent cars to beat China's "heart" and the rise of national automobile brands.

Wang Zhi's growth experience has constantly subverted people's traditional definitions and imaginations of workers' images.

"How to 'refine' into a model craftsman, we can learn a lot from the master." Wang Zhi's apprentice Yang Yongxiu said.

Using a lot of spare time, Wang Zhi learned to study CNC processing technology, consult domestic and foreign materials, self-taught computer programming knowledge, and also obtained a self-examination undergraduate degree.

After years of accumulation, Wang Zhi has mastered the operation and programming of the three mainstream CNC systems, and successfully developed more than 100 Fanuc and Siemens system macro program instructions. He developed the gun drilling drilling cycle instruction to avoid the problem of gun drilling breaking caused by traditional manual programming; the horizontal machining center table rotation coordinate system correction instruction developed by him was successfully applied in multi-angle surface processing, and the processing efficiency was increased by 300%, and won the silver medal of the National Invention Exhibition.

"Front-line workers can also develop autonomous software", what Wang Zhi did, refreshed many people's cognition.

In order to continuously improve the skill level, Wang Zhi taught himself CAD/CAM software, established a 3D model of CNC equipment through surveying and mapping, wrote and developed machine tool simulation drive parameter files, and realized the dynamic simulation processing and collision detection functions of machine tools;

He edited and developed the post-file of the five-axis equipment, realized the seamless connection between the programming output format and the numerical control system, and developed the CAM software machine tool dynamic simulation and post-program project, which won the "First Prize of China FAW Innovation Achievement";

He also proposed the "method of automatic programming of two-dimensional shell parts", which has been successfully applied to the processing of multiple product housings.

Relying on the enterprising spirit of never stopping, in the 2013 Sino-US International CNC Skills Competition, Wang Zhi relied on years of experience in editing macro program instructions to ensure that the specimen size was qualified for one-time processing, not only won gold in one fell swoop, but also won the silver medal for fixture manufacturing, and won the honor for Chinese workers.

After learning that he won the National May Day Labor Medal, Wang Zhi told reporters: "This is not only my personal honor, but also thanks to the development platform built by FAW for industrial workers and the cultivation of me for many years." "Driven by Wang Zhi, the CNC class is all experts."
