On May 28, 2023, China Eastern Airlines' world's first C919 aircraft flew MU9191 from Shanghai Hongqiao to Beijing, successfully completing the world's first commercial passenger flight of this aircraft, marking the comprehensive completion of "R&D, manufacturing, certification and operation" of C919. On September 28, 2023, China Eastern Airlines once again signed a purchase agreement with COMAC, adding 100 C919 aircraft to the first batch of five aircraft signed in 2021.

As of May 27, 2024, China Eastern Airlines' five C919 aircraft have carried out a total of 2,181 flights on the first flight day and the subsequent three routes of Shanghai Hongqiao-Chengdu Tianfu, Shanghai Hongqiao-Beijing Daxing, and Shanghai Hongqiao-Xi'an Xianyang, with a total of 6,090 commercial flight hours and nearly 300,000 passengers. The C919 has normal operation technology, good safe flight performance, steady improvement in daily utilization rate and other indicators, and comprehensive operation capability has been comprehensively tested.

On March 8, 2024, China Eastern Airlines' C919 passenger aircraft began to operate the third scheduled commercial route - "Shanghai Hongqiao-Xi'an Xianyang".

It is worth mentioning that on June 1 this year, China Eastern Airlines will use the C919 large aircraft to operate the "Hong Kong-Shanghai" commercial charter flight, carrying Hong Kong university students from Hong Kong to Shanghai to participate in the "Shanghai-Hong Kong Concentric" exchange activities, which will be the first overseas commercial flight of C919.

According to reports, at present, the number of C919 pilots of China Eastern Airlines has exceeded 60, the number of C919 flight attendants has been 8 batches, nearly 170, more than 60 C919 maintenance personnel and more than 40 dispatchers have been trained, and 14,000 ground service support training of the aircraft model have been completed.

With the start of the delivery of 100 aircraft, China Eastern Airlines' C919 fleet will continue to grow, and it is expected that by the end of 2024, China Eastern Airlines' C919 fleet will reach 10 aircraft, and the routes operated will continue to be "new". Subsequently, China Eastern Airlines C919 will be mainly launched in the main base market of China Eastern Airlines and important business and tourism trunk markets.
