Drive China, December 13, 2021 News that Tesla's recently released software over-the-air update provides an unexpected new feature that allows motorists to play games while driving. This has raised concerns from federal safety regulators in the United States.
This is Tesla's second breakthrough in driving safety issues. The U.S. Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHYSA) has repeatedly expressed concern about Tesla's Autopilot assisted driving system and recent "full autopilot" (FSD) capabilities.
However, Tesla introduced a pop-up menu in this update that drivers can use to launch the game. Tesla has yet to respond. Last year, the company disbanded its prus department.
Under U.S. federal safety regulations, automakers must strictly comply with regulatory requirements, including what operations the large control screen can be used for while the vehicle is driving. In most cases, drivers can't even use Bluetooth to pair their smartphones during driving.
