At last month's Guangzhou Auto Show, BYD officially launched the Song Pro DM-i, and opened pre-sale at the end of November, with the price range of 135,800-16.28 million yuan for 5 models, and received 18,116 orders on the first day, continuing the hot momentum of the DM-i family. We introduced this car in the live video of our auto show, and its core power and three-electric system are the same as the Song PLUS DM-i, but the price is lower than the latter. Song PLUS DM-i itself has been sought after by users, so it seems that the more cost-effective Song Pro DM-i will not be more difficult to find? What are the core differences between the two cars? How should users choose? Recently, we took a real photo of the 2022 Song Pro DM-i 110km flagship Pro (hereinafter referred to as Song Pro DM-i) at BYD Shenzhen 3D Turin 4S store to see its characteristics together.
New car features:

The Song Pro DM-i is bydilicon's fourth model equipped with DM-i super hybrid technology, and the core components include a high-thermal efficiency engine for Snap cloud hybrid, an EHS hybrid system, dual motors, and a power blade battery. The motor-based drive method ensures that the engine always works in the efficient range, thus ensuring that the overall energy consumption is very low, which has been verified and accumulated a good reputation in the previous three DM-i models. Since the Song Pro DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i are both compact SUVs, the two use exactly the same battery and motor, and the performance is very close. The positioning of the Song Pro DM-i is slightly lower than the latter, and the price of the main sales model is below 150,000, so it seems that the cost performance is indeed higher.
Song Pro previously had fuel version and EV version, of which the 2021 fuel version has replaced the new front face model, using the Dragon Face 3.0 modeling style, the size of the net is stretched horizontally, the vertical height is also increased, and the black trim is surrounded, and the area of the front of the car has increased from 60% to 75% of the previous generation, which looks a lot of atmosphere. The Song Pro DM-i uses the same grille, which is slightly different from the fuel version in that the internal horizontal banner adopts a double-layer structure, and the "dragon whisker" part at the top is exactly the same. The addition of a silver front lip at the bottom enhances the sense of sportiness and looks coordinated.
The headlights of the "Dragon Claw" shape are divided into three chambers, the top and the central "Dragon Whiskers" naturally integrate, the bottom is a bent LED daytime running light, and the internal near and high beam lamps are equipped with LED light sources and automatic lighting, except for the entry-level models that support adaptive far and near light switching. The ventilation duct shape of the side cheek part is not exaggerated, and the use of glossy black trims creates a "fangs" shape.
The side shape has not changed much, the classic SUV body proportions, the body height is abundant, the roof line is relatively gentle, and the inclination of the D-pillar is not large, which can win more space for the carriage. The previous silver-coated D-pillar was changed to bright black, but the dragon scale trim remained, so that the suspension of the roof was more intense, and the side window frames were all changed to bright black, and there was no longer any silver. The undulating waistline of the "Dragon Leap" style has not changed, and it is still very dynamic. Only the roof racks and side skirts retain a little silver trim.
The body size is 4650/1860/1700mm and the wheelbase is 2712mm. Compared to the Song PLUS DM-i, its wheelbase, length and width are slightly smaller, but the height is more adequate, and the rear overhead space is more abundant. Compared with the autonomous main plug-in hybrid SUV, it is slightly inferior in height to the Roewe RX5 new energy, and the rest of the size is larger.
The exterior mirrors with black and red stitching are rounded in shape, integrated with NFC sensing modules, LED side lights, side cameras, and are equipped with 360° panoramic images except for the entry-level model. It also supports automatic folding of electric adjustment, folding, heating and locking car.
The body of the same color door handle standard with the front row keyless entry function, in addition to the entry model are supported remote control key, Bluetooth key and NFC key three unlocking methods, high convenience.
This top-of-the-line model features 19-inch rims and a concave dense banner that looks simple yet designed. The tires are available in 235/50 R19 sizes, and the wider tread provides ample grip, matching the Giti SUV880 series with excellent grip performance in dry wet. The rest of the models are equipped with 225/60 R18 tires, with one size smaller rim and narrower tread.
The rear is exactly the same as the second-generation Song Pro fuel version, with a relatively low tail window height, significant step transitions to the body part, an increased tail wing at the top and integrated high brake lights. The "Traces of the Dragon's Claw" penetrating taillights are fused with through-chrome strips, and the crisscrossing strips of lights quickly identifies who it is at night. The bumper part is very complexly decorated, with air outlet shapes on both sides, silver skid plates and protective panels protruding from the body in the center, and mid-fog lights, all of which have corresponding elements to the front of the car, and the sense of echo is excellent, and the hidden exhaust pipe is located at the bottom.
The interior of the carriage is also unified to the latest cockpit style, the Y-shaped center console uses a large area of paint panel, which looks both stretched and atmospheric, and has a higher integration with the door panel, and the 8.8-inch LCD instrument and the 15.6-inch rotating screen become the main channel of human-computer interaction. This car adopts the color scheme of sky gray + unicorn brown, the color looks warm and comfortable, and it is also available with glazed jade blue + eclipse blue. The materials and workmanship of the carriages are also relatively sophisticated.
The three-spoke multi-function steering wheel uses black and brown two-color leather, which is consistent with the overall style of the interior, and the cost of the gradient color is lower than that of the PLUS version. And the flat shape of the steering wheel is not as strong as the PLUS version, closer to the round. The steering wheel is the right diameter for a comfortable and full grip. The left banner uses buttons + levers to control the DiPilot intelligent driver assistance module, except for the entry model, the rest of the assistance has reached L2 level.
The full LCD dashboard was upgraded to 8.8 inches, which looks more atmospheric than the EV model's 8 inches, but the unobstructed layout is still rudimentary compared to the PLUS version. And the pixels of the screen are not as high as the PLUS version, and the UI style is also very ordinary, which is obviously lower than the cost of the latter.
The central control screen is available in 10.1-inch, 12.8-inch and 15.6-inch sizes, all of which support adaptive rotation, of which the 15.6-inch large screen only appears in the top model. The car is equipped with DiLink 4.0 intelligent network system, the UI interface has been optimized, the smoothness of touch is very high, the Internet access speed is also very fast, various applications are still very rich, and many of the hardware of the vehicle can be adjusted through the screen, which is very intuitive. The new system adds light and dark modes to accommodate different lighting. Intelligent voice response time increased by 50%, felt that the speed of conversation was much higher, and the control feedback was even worse. In addition, the K song function optimizes the sound effect, supporting four interactive effects of cheering, clapping, flowers, and flying kisses, which is more playable.
The layout of the barrier platform is basically the same as that of the Dynasty series models, which is characterized by retaining more physical buttons, but fortunately, the flat layout is carried out, which looks quite clean and tidy. The low and flat electronic barrier bar is centered, which basically does not affect the pick-and-place of the front mobile phone storage compartment, and many buttons arranged in the rear include one-key start, electronic handbrake, double flashing lights, lane departure reminder, blind zone monitoring, automatic parking, pure electric/oil mode, snow mode, driving mode, air conditioning and multimedia control.
The front charging connectors are centrally arranged in the dual channels under the barrier table, where there is Type-C, 12V power supply and two USB ports, but the openings on both sides are not large. The central armrest box has a square opening, a certain depth, a relatively large volume, and an open double cup holder in front.
The integration of the center console and the door panel is not bad, the carriage is mainly covered with soft materials, the top of the center console is soft plastic, the handrails of the door panels are leather, and a variety of color leather collocations are used, such as orange and unicorn brown at the armrests, which look fashionable and young.
The whole series is equipped with one-piece seats wrapped in imitation leather, and the stitching color scheme of sky gray and unicorn brown enhances the sense of grade, and the orange on the side is more sporty. The leather surface is soft and comfortable, the padding is soft and hard, the cushion is sufficiently supportive, there is a certain lateral support and shoulder support, and the headrest has a certain convexity, which can provide better neck support, and the ergonomics are more mature. In terms of function, the main driver's seat supports front and rear, backrest, height (4-way) electric adjustment, and the co-pilot has less high-low (4-way) electric adjustment. Both the 51km and 110km top-of-the-line models are equipped with front seat ventilation and heating.
The rear seats are also two-color panels with orange embellishments, which looks stylish. The cushion filling should be tougher, the length is sufficient, it can provide good leg support, the backrest and headrest have a small amount of lateral support, and the backrest angle can be adjusted to adapt to different sitting postures. In terms of space, Kandi is 175cm tall, two and a half fists in leg space, and two punches in the overhead space, compared to the PLUS version, the overhead space is better, the leg space is slightly less, for tall people, it is obviously more friendly here. The floor is completely flat and does not hinder the movement of the feet. In terms of configuration, it provides floor air conditioner air outlets, two USB, and folding armrests with cup holders.
With the exception of the entry-level model, the remaining models are equipped with a sunroof that opens to the rear overhead, and provides an electric sunshade.
The wheel arches on both sides of the tail compartment are more convex and relatively high, which may be related to the use of multi-link rear suspension. Fortunately, the depth is not bad, the lateral distance of the rear end is large enough, the height is very abundant, so the overall load space is still large enough, the volume has not been announced, you can refer to the fuel version 520-1340L. The rear seats are reclining in a 4:6 ratio and the cushions are in a sunken layout, so the backrest can be completely flattened and very practical. There is also a storage compartment under the floor, and there is no spare tire.
Except for the entry-level model, the rest of the models are equipped with an electric tailgate with position memory, and the maximum height of the tailgate is about 180cm, which is slightly inconvenient for tall people.
In terms of power, it is completely consistent with the PLUS version, equipped with a hybrid system with EHS system as the core of the BYD DM-i platform, the 51km version uses the EHS132 system, the maximum power of the motor is 132kW, the maximum torque is 316 Nm; the 110 km version uses EHS145, the maximum power of the motor is 145kW, the maximum torque is 325 Nm, and the 0-100km/h acceleration is 7.9 seconds. With both are hybrid special 1.5L high-efficiency engine, the maximum power of 81kW (110Ps) / 6000rpm, the maximum torque of 135Nm / 4500rpm, the engine parameters are relatively small, mainly drive the generator to generate electricity, in a few cruise times to achieve direct drive, but all the working conditions are in the most efficient range, so the energy consumption can be greatly reduced, the 51km version of the power loss fuel consumption is 4.4L/100km, the 110km version of the power loss fuel consumption is 4.5L/100km , exactly the same as the PLUS version. In terms of endurance, 51km and 110km models use lithium iron phosphate batteries (blade batteries) with energy of 8.3kWh and 18.3kWh respectively, and pure electric endurance corresponds to 51km and 110km respectively, but this intelligent management system does not exhaust the battery power, generally when the power is less than 15%, it will enter the range extended mode, even if it is not charged for a long time.
The chassis still uses the suspension combination of front McPherson freestanding + rear multi-link independent, all of which are front-facing front-drive layouts, which is also a difference from the PLUS version, that is, there is no electric four-wheel drive model.

Since the launch of BYD's DM-i model this year, it has been in a state of difficult to find, we said before, DM-i technology is not only for the new energy market to achieve technical differences, but more importantly, for fuel vehicles to complete the dimensionality reduction blow. Song Pro DM-i is the core product of BYD's victory chase, it has come to the SUV market below 150,000, which is haval H6, Changan CS75P and other model positions, which may have an impact on the entire independent brand fuel SUV. Of course, at present, BYD's urgent need to solve is not sales, but production capacity, so many orders for BYD is a happy trouble.
