Currently, Porsche has released a special limited edition 911 GT3 designed specifically for the Australian market to commemorate the automaker's 70th anniversary in the country.
The story of Porsche in Australia begins with two 356s, brought to the country by Norman Hamilton in 1951. This makes Australia the first right-hand drive market to accept Porsche and the second non-European market to receive Porsche after the United States.
The 356 is available in maroon and fish silver grey, a color celebrated by the new 911 GT3 70 Porsche Australia edition, which features fish silver ash metallic paint, a modern interpretation of the colours developed exclusively by Porsche's exclusive manufacturing plant specifically for this model.
Based on the 911 GT3 with a travel kit, the model has a special LOGO with a flag, as well as checked seats and some unique interior design features. Porsche says it's the first time it's launched a market-specific special edition on top of the 911 GT product, and the first time it's created a special edition for the Australian market.
The automaker also held an event to celebrate its 70th anniversary in the market, with special guests attending the event including former Formula One driver and world endurance champion Mark Weber. Some classic Porsches were exhibited at the conference, including the 356 and 928.
Porsche Australia also produced a souvenir book to commemorate the moment, tracing its seven decades of development.
