In 2017, China Railway Construction Co., Ltd. (CRCC) won the first Moscow Metro construction contract to undertake the construction of the southwest section of the third interchange ring line of the Moscow Metro, which included the construction of the main structure of 3 stations, 4 shield sections and 9 tunnels, with a total length of 5.4 kilometers.

Looking back on the construction process of this project, the five shield machines independently developed by China Railway Construction have been highly praised by the Moscow Academy of Engineering and the Russian staff for many times, and it is unanimously agreed that China's equipment performance is excellent, the tunneling speed is fast, and the quality of work is high.
According to reports, these 5 shield machines are targeted designed according to the characteristics of the long construction period of the Russian winter cold, and its main drive, hydraulic pump station, frequency converter and other auxiliary heating systems can withstand the low temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius, successfully coping with the extremely cold construction environment and ensuring the continuity of winter construction.
Konstantin Orlov, chief mechanic of the Moscow Metro Project of China Railway Construction, said that the shield machine independently developed by China Railway Construction is fully adapted to the tunnel boring work in Russia. China has its own characteristics in this field of research and development, and can produce high-quality shield equipment.
