Yang Huan in "The Wind Rises luoyang" is the historical Shangguan Wan'er. She was a controversial woman in history, not only as empress Wu Zetian's personal secretary, but also as a zhaorong of Emperor Zhongzong of Tang.
The ups and downs of her life were influenced by the times at that time, so she had later experiences. We know that Shangguan Wan'er's grandfather Shangguan Yi was killed by Wu Zetian, so why did Wu Zetian reuse Shangguan Wan'er? There are two reasons for this.
1. Talent
Shangguan Wan'er inherited the virtues of his grandfather and was a very talented woman, so Wu Zetian left her around and became a female secretary.

When Shangguan Wan'er was more than ten years old, Wu Zetian took the examination of Shangguan Wan'er, and the result was unexpected, Shangguan Wan'er's literary talent was quite good, and Wu Zetian was very happy, and immediately appointed Shangguan Wan'er as a neishe person and began to reuse Shangguan Wan'er.
2. Wu Zetian has taken power
Wu Zetian was already in power when she appointed Shangguan Wan'er, and Shangguan Wan'er was a slave in the palace before she was appointed, which for Wu Zetian, Shangguan Wan'er was a very small threat to her.
Wu Zetian was proclaimed empress dowager, and her power was greater, and Shangguan Wan'er's actions were under the control of Wu Zetian, so Shangguan Wan'er could not harm Wu Zetian.
And Shangguan Wan'er was not willing to hurt Wu Zetian, because only Wu Zetian could reuse her and improve her life, so if she hurt Wu Zetian, she would hurt herself. Therefore, after Wu Zetian considered these things, he also dared to appoint Shangguan Wan'er.
Judging from Wu Zetian's reuse of Shangguan Wan'er, Wu Zetian and Shangguan Wan'er were both wise women, and they knew what to do to conform to the situation at that time and be most beneficial to themselves.
