Shangguan Wan'er's epitaph was exhibited to the public for the first time
On April 28, with the trial operation of the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum for the society, the epitaph of Shangguan Wan'er will also be exhibited for the first time.
Shangguan Wan'er was a Neishe person known as the "Prime Minister of the Towel" during the Wu Zetian period, and her epitaph content supplemented her with information about her burial by Princess Taiping after tang long's coup d'état. Moreover, archaeology found that Shangguan Wan'er's tomb was seriously damaged, possibly because Tang Xuanzong believed that she was a party of Princess Taiping and carried out the "official destruction of the tomb".
In September 2013, in the Xixian New Area of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, archaeologists discovered a high-grade tomb of the royal level of the Tang Dynasty. It was judged that it was the tomb of the famous and talented woman Shangguan Wan'er!
At the beginning of the excavation, archaeologists found that this tomb has a patio structure, which is generally only available in Tang Dynasty tombs, and the more patios there are, the higher the level of tombs, and this tomb has 5 patios, which means that at least it is a royal tomb.
After the archaeologists continued to excavate, at the moment when the burial chamber was opened, a tombstone containing an epitaph was inscribed with a seal letter: Tang Dynasty Zhaorong Shangguan Inscription.
On April 28, the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum will be put into trial operation for the public, and the epitaph of Shangguan Wan'er will be exhibited for the first time.
