"A mountain has four seasons, ten miles of different days", "the world's selenium capital", "China's selenium valley" these titles are all said of the same place - located in the 30 degrees north latitude of Hubei Province's last secret land Enshi. Located between the two "furnaces" of Wuhan and Chongqing, Enshi, with an average temperature of only about 20 degrees in summer, is one of the most suitable areas for human habitation and a good tourist destination.
Although Enshi is small, it has many "big" titles! It is the youngest autonomous prefecture in China, with five national-level nature reserves (Mulinzi, Xingdou Mountain, Seven Sisters Mountain, Badong Golden Snub-nosed Monkey, Xianfeng Zhongjianhe Giant Salamander, and so on); CNN of the United States has rated it as "China's most beautiful wonderland"; National Geographic has rated it as "China's most beautiful place"; and the United Nations has also included it in the "World Heritage List." Hubei Province is the only ethnic minority autonomous region, and the tourism industry in Hubei Province is responsible for the appearance.
The 30th parallel of north latitude passes through Enshi, Hubei, and there is a mysterious rift valley in Jianshi County above the axis, and this big rift valley is called the geocentric valley. During the Quaternary glacial period, many creatures became extinct, but the geocentric valley and its surrounding areas were pardoned by nature and became a refuge for many rare plants, and was rated as "one of the most habitable environments in the world". Earlier, the Chinese Academy of Sciences excavated ancient human fossils in Shimenhe, which is considered to be the earliest origin of human beings, forming a strong challenge to the African origin theory. (Enshi Geocentric Valley is the hometown of the Ba people, is the intersection of Chu culture and Shu culture, in addition to the profound cultural heritage, what is more amazing is that it is located on the 30th parallel with the Bermuda Triangle, the Egyptian pyramids, Mount Everest and the Yellow Mountain in China.) ）
What I want to talk about today is a little-known place in Enshi. Although there are countless natural scenery in Enshi, the most age-rich is the Sobuya Stone Forest. (Sobuya is a geographical name, in which "Sobu" means "three" in Shijia language, and "Ya" refers to the narrow place between two mountains, so Sobuya means three narrow mountain passes.) ）
Sobuya Stone Forest was formed in the Ordovician period 460 million years ago (160 million years earlier than Kunming Stone Forest), known as the world's first Ordovician Stone Forest, the whole Stone Forest is like an undersea labyrinth, beautiful, has more than 100 classic natural landscapes of all sizes, open to Qinglongtai, Lotus Village, Mozigou, Jiulonghui four major scenic spots, each scenic spot has its own characteristics, the unique "dissolution pattern", "wearing crown" landscape in the scenic area, is a major highlight, the secret land of slits, fossils and monuments can be seen everywhere, can be called an ancient geological museum.
The formation of the Sobuya Stone Forest is an ancient geological process, and these limestones were initially deposited on the seabed. Subsequently, these sediments are lifted as the earth's crust moves. After a long period of weathering and erosion, as well as the erosion of flowing water, the hard limestone gradually formed a strange shape, and finally formed the stone forest landscape seen today.
Many people call the Sobuya Stone Forest an undersea labyrinth, mainly because of its unique geographical features and geological history. The Sobuya Stone Forest was formed during the Ordovician period, and its predecessor was the underwater world. This means that hundreds of millions of years ago, it was a vast ocean, and the current stone forest landscape is the result of geological processes over a long period of time. And when I walked into the Sobuya Stone Forest, I felt as if I was in a secret place in a slit. The narrow promenade is flanked by towering stone pillars covered with mossy melt, features reminiscent of the world under the sea. This unique landscape makes you feel like you're walking through a huge labyrinth of stone columns.
Digression: The global glaciation of the Quaternary Ice Age, which began about 2 million years ago until the present, is the most recent ice age in geological history. During this ice age, the climate was highly variable and the glaciers had many advances and retreats, known as glacial epochs and interglacial epochs. The Quaternary Ice Age lasted shorter than the previous Ice Ages, and the current climate is colder than many periods in history, so the Quaternary Ice Age has not ended, and it is generally believed that our earth is still between the subglacial and interglacial periods in the Quaternary Ice Age.
The earth was born more than 4 billion years ago, and human beings divided the earth into several stages according to the characteristics of biology: the Plutozoic, Archean, Proterozoic, and Phanerozoic.
