At the moment, my country is immersed in the night / This is what I am in Shanghai in the early hours of the morning / All I know..."
This is the poet's experience during a brief transit in Shanghai, and his relationship with Shanghai does not stop there.
At the 6th Shanghai International Poetry Festival, which opened at the Blackstone M+ Music Park on the morning of December 8, Magarito Quiar was awarded the "Golden Magnolia" Award. According to the awards, his poems "explore the secrets of heaven and earth and send philosophers' percussions to the distant and rich history of mankind and the turbulent and changeable reality."
Magarito sent greetings to Chinese readers on the screen, saying: "Ancient and modern Chinese poets have become my important companions, and this closeness has benefited me a lot and given my poetry more power." Despite distance and language barriers, poetry is always a bond of friendship and solidarity. ”
Shanghai is a city of poetry. In February 1917, Hu Shi published the first batch of Chinese vernacular poems in the New Youth, which was founded in Shanghai, which became the beginning of new Chinese poetry. Founded in 2016, the Shanghai International Poetry Festival has been held in a series of events to foster interaction between poets and readers at home and abroad, witnessing the origins of poetry and the city.

Poetry is to reach the meaning, music is to convey affection, poetry and music are inseparable. The Hengfu International Music District, where the opening ceremony of the Poetry Festival is located, is the oldest musical "cradle" in Shanghai, and is an area with rich musical culture, concentrated musical talents and dense music performance institutions. The collision of poetry and music adds beauty to the music district.
In the afternoon of the same day, the participating poets went to the Eros Garden on Julu Road, and talked about the future of poetry at the "Poetry, and Community of Human Destiny" Chinese and foreign poets forum held in the Auditorium of the Shanghai Writers Association, showing the spiritual connection between Shanghai and the world poetry trend and literary creation. A special issue of poetry edited and published by Shanghai Literature Magazine for this year's Shanghai International Poetry Festival was first published at the forum. The special issue published the new poetry works and related poetry creations of all invited Chinese and foreign poets in this poetry festival, which became a rich reading book of the 6th Shanghai International Poetry Festival, vividly interpreting the theme of "poetry is our common mother tongue".
