Zweig's book "Yesterday's World"

author:A cup of coffee in the early morning

Shanghai Translation Publishing House, translated by Xu Youjing. I think it's pretty good. Maybe it was later translated, drawing on the results of previous generations, and it reads really smoothly.

I found Zweig in The Story of Chess, which was a thin pamphlet in a magazine, the size of a palm. It was middle school, one noon, immediately conquered by the author's writing, artistic conception, noon nap canceled, read in one breath. Ever since, Zweig has been remembered ever since.

Later, when I read his "Twenty-Four Hours of a Woman", the psychological descriptions were extremely similar, and it was immersive to read, as if the protagonist was you. It's a thrill.

Later, he learned that he liked Freud very much and wrote in a psychoanalytic way.

I thought I had finished reading his books, so I stopped searching for his books.

"Yesterday's World" was an unexpected bonus, one day to the Sisyphus bookstore hanging out, accidentally saw Zweig's name, found that there was an author's book has not read, immediately bought it.

After I bought it, I still read it in one sitting, and read it for two or three days.

A book that is read in one breath is always a good book, isn't it? Because I am attached to the chapters that I have not read, I take the time to read them, and I will not stop until I finish reading them, and other books will not enter the field of vision.

Even better, after reading this book, I was deeply immersed in the spiritual world of the book. It was as if I had a long dream. The reality is somewhat vague and distant.

Few people recommend this book. Don't know why.

Zweig originally wrote plays, but unfortunately had a bad chance and turned to biography and fiction.

He was rather frank, thinking that such was actually Black Mirror's chance for him to learn and understand the world.

Otherwise he became famous in theater, made more money, and stagnated. There will be no future literary achievements.

It's one thing to make money, it's another thing to create something.

Zweig's drama was not introduced domestically, which is a pity.

Zweig's book "Yesterday's World"

This one is wonderful.

What clothes do we wear in our time? Men wear suits, shirts and ties on the upper body, belts and trousers on the lower body, and the trousers seem to be only black mainstream. The shirt is inserted under the belt.

Is it natural to dress like this?

Probably not natural either.

Sit at your desk and be motionless. Moving slightly, the lower part of the shirt was pulled out of the belt, tucked in, moved again, tucked again.

What about ladies? Long skirt with high heels. The harm of high heels to the body does not need to be repeated, but the impact on aesthetic concepts is far-reaching. Wear sneakers, wear people are comfortable, not beautiful, formal occasions or high heels, and the higher the better, the thinner the better. Beauty has gone against nature and comfort.

Why hasn't China formed its own unique aesthetic system and dressing style?

Indians are always looked down upon by Chinese and call him A-San. But look at people's clothing, women do not wear high heels for beauty, men wear kaftans and slippers.

I thought indian culture was confident, at least not less than Chinese culture.

Remaining silent about sex and pretending not to see is also a flaw in Chinese culture.

Some people question why it is legal and widespread for prostitution to be illegal.

Li Yinhe said that prostitution is immoral, but it does not have to be criminalized. Moral condemnation is fine. It's like condemning wrapping.

It is a pity that it is not recognized by the mainstream.

What is the mainstream doing? Pretend not to see.

Zweig's book "Yesterday's World"

Humans are ridiculous. The fear of war, gradually evolving, turned into a frenzy of war. One person is a wise person, and a group of people is a ragtag group.

People are tired of their daily work, no longer ordinary humble postmen, office clerks, small vendors, thrown into war, there is a high probability that they can become heroes, everyone admires, and everyone looks forward to it.

But what can war ultimately bring?

Death, disability, life and death.

Most of the Chinese are pacifists, and they will not rebel or invade other countries until they cannot sustain their lives and eat without food.

The reason why Chinese pursue peace and love peace, I think, is that there are too many disasters in China's history, there are many wars, natural disasters, and many famines, and people have the pursuit of "preferring to be a peaceful dog than a chaotic world".

Du Fu's three officials and three distinctions have written about the harm done by the war to the people, which is stored in the cultural memory of Chinese. Thank you Du Fu. His poems create a unique cultural dna of Chinese.

Zweig's book "Yesterday's World"

The world war in Europe, with a big name, is actually just a multinational melee.

Austria has a population of only 50 million and a land area of 83,855 square kilometers.

It is not as large as a province in China. In the eyes of Chinese, it is true that it is a small country and a widow.

By the end of the book, Zweig is filled with despair about the world and commits suicide with his young wife.

Therefore, this book is his best book. There is always blood and tears in the book, and it is sad to read for a long time.

After reading it and sighing, Zweig insisted a little longer, and the war was over.

My version, from the Shanghai Translation Publishing House, is smooth and beautiful, and it does not feel like a translated work at all. It seems to be written in Chinese.
