After 6 years, the Award ceremony and related activities of the Fu Lei Translation and Publication Award (hereinafter referred to as the "Fu Lei Award") will come to Shanghai. The reporter learned from the 13th Fu Lei Translation and Publication Award Shanghai Media Meeting that the award ceremony of this year's Fu Lei Award will be held on November 20 at the Fu Lei Library in Zhoupu Town to reveal the final award-winning works. Subsequently, various literary activities related to the Fu Lei Prize will also be held at Duoyun College in Shanghai Tower.
In 2009, with the cooperation and support of Chinese Scholars in the French community represented by Dong Qiang, Director of the Department of French at Peking University, the French Embassy in China established the Fu Lei Translation and Publication Award, which aims to promote the translation and dissemination of French literature and academic works in China. The inaugural Fu Lei Award Ceremony was held at Peking University in November 2009.
Since its inception, the Fu Lei Prize has been supported by many cultural celebrities represented by Nobel Laureates Le Clézio and Mo Yan. Each year, the Fu Lei Prize selects two of the best Chinese translations from French, one for literature and one for social sciences, and since 2013, the Newcomer Award has been established to encourage young translators.
This year's Fu Lei Award received a total of 47 works, including 35 in the humanities and social sciences and 12 in the literature category. On September 9 this year, the preliminary judging meeting was held in Beijing, and the jury selected 10 shortlisted works, including sociologist and philosopher Didier Erippon's anthropological work "Return to The Hometown", Eric Emmanuel Schmitt's short story collection "Ostend's Dreamer" and Elisabeth Ludinescu's "Psychoanalytic Private Dictionary", which once again proved the vitality of the contemporary French translation community in China.
Dong Qiang, chairman of the Fu Lei Prize Organizing Committee, said that compared with previous years, there are more humanities and social science works in this year's entries than literary works, which means that the cultural exchanges between China and France are more in-depth. In addition, among the translators who applied for this year's Fu Lei Award, the youngest translator is only 24 years old, "which can also be seen that the translators engaged in the translation career are getting younger and younger, and there are successors to the translation career, and there are people who follow Mr. Fu Lei." ”
In 2015, the Fu Lei Award Ceremony was held in Shanghai for the first time. However, this year's award ceremony will be held for the first time in Zhoupu Town, Fu Lei's hometown. In recent years, Zhoupu Town has established a strategic idea of leading the construction of "Six Zhoupu" with "Cultural Zhoupu", and insisted on promoting the construction of "Cultural Zhoupu" with Fu Lei as the soul, established a special fund for Fu Lei, created a Fu Lei education system, built a Fu Lei cultural front, carried out Fu Lei cultural activities, and inherited Fu Lei culture and Fu Lei spirit through various forms.
The Fu Lei Library is one of the results. As the only library in China with the theme of Fu Lei, Fu Lei Library is also the first cultural celebrity library in Shanghai, which collects the most complete Fu Lei literature, is the publicity and display center of Fu Lei culture, and is also the research and exchange center of Fu Lei's spirit.
Min Qingfeng, secretary of the Party Committee of Zhoupu Town, said that taking the Fu Lei Translation and Publication Award as an opportunity, Zhou Pu will actively promote mutual exchanges and mutual promotion between Chinese and foreign cultures, play the "role of Zhou Pu" to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the East and the West and the diversity of world civilizations, and further polish Fu Lei's business card and create a new situation of "cultural Zhoupu" with Fu Lei culture and Fu Lei spirit as the core carrier.
The Fu Lei Award Ceremony came to Pudong, which also reflects the innovative spirit of Pudong New Area in benchmarking the international, daring to be a pioneer and leading the trend under the task of building a "leading area".
