This is the first part of Park Chan-wook's revenge trilogy, and although the relationship between the deaf-mute boy and his sister is explained to be very pure, the director also has ulterior motives to allude to the discord between the sister and brother through several sets of shots. But it is also extremely obscure, as if it is paving the way for the old boy in the second part.
The evil deeds of society are always hidden in the darkness, and the people at the bottom who strive to advance but are forced to take the dark road are regrettable.
