On July 30th and 31st, the final of the Youth Dance Competition was held at the Shanghai International Dance Center Coliseum, where the young dancers in full costume showed their style on this professional stage. As an important section during the Youth Dance Festival, the Youth Dance Competition invites dancers such as Huang Doudou, Wu Jie, Hu Hongjun and other dancers to form a jury for dance lovers and learners aged 7-15 across the country, including Chinese dance, ballet, modern dance and street dance. Since its launch in March, the competition has received more than 400 program entries from more than 10 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government).
After fierce competition, in the nearly 160 groups of finalist programs, a total of more than 40 outstanding works in each group were finally selected to stand on the podium of the closing performance, in addition to more than 20 individual awards, excellent guidance teachers and excellent organization awards. It is worth mentioning that the final works of the ICT Youth Creative Dance Summer Camp also appeared in the closing performance. As a new section of this year's Youth Dance Festival, the Creative Dance Summer Camp takes "Inspire the Creative Thinking" as the core teaching concept and training goal, improves children's physical and mental perception and physical expression, and uses dance to guide and inspire children's perception, imagination, creativity and collaboration ability.
After learning the laws and techniques of modern dance movements, the children participating in the summer camp worked with their instructors in interaction and improvisation to create unique dance works. All along, Shanghai International Dance Center has been relying on its advantages of gathering high-quality resources for dance at home and abroad, and is committed to promoting and disseminating dance art, so that art lovers of different levels and ages can feel the charm of dance. During the event of this year's Youth Dance Festival, Shanghai International Dance Center invited famous dancers and held 4 dance master classes and 2 famous teacher lectures of different dance types. The personal guidance of the famous dancers brings a new world for the future dance exploration and learning of the young dancers.
The dance master class is taught by hao ruoqi, Duan Jingting, Hu Hongjun and Aviv Greenfield, covering different dance styles such as classical dance, ballet, street dance, and modern dance. Through the workshops of these famous teachers, the young dancers can not only experience the style of top dance artists up close, but also harvest professional and diversified dance experiences under the guidance of these famous teachers and experts.
In terms of lectures by famous teachers, Cao Chengyuan, a famous dancer known as the "pioneer of Modern Chinese Dance", started from introducing the three artistic characteristics of modern dance: personality, originality and epochality, compared with the long-standing Chinese historical and traditional culture, and hooked up the common integration of modern dance and contemporary Chinese life trends. Tian Xiang, an associate professor at the Beijing Dance Academy and a young dancer, combined his own creative experience in the Han and Tang Dance Theaters, shared how artists revisited the physical posture in history, and integrated classical aesthetics with contemporary contexts, thus giving classical themes contemporary value.
This year's Youth Dance Festival is hosted by the Shanghai International Dance Center Development Foundation, organized by the Dance School Affiliated to Shanghai Theater Academy and Shanghai International Dance Center Theater Management Co., Ltd., with special support from Shanghai Dancers Association and Scottish Dance Theatre. As a follow-up extension of this year's Youth Dance Festival, in mid-to-late August, Shanghai International Dance Centre will also cooperate with scottish dance theatres to launch online dance workshops for young people, introducing more diversified, more innovative and more international high-quality resources for children who love dance.
