Song Qingru is intelligent and studious, quite assertive. After graduating from junior high school, her father took the initiative to arrange marriage for her. She resolutely resisted: "I don't want a dowry, I want to study." ”
In 1932, Song Qingru took his dowry and was admitted to Zhijiang University. Because of her outstanding appearance and extraordinary talent, she is very noticeable, and in the face of many admiring eyes, Song Qingru is confident and stubborn.

Song Qingru participated in the "Zhijiang Poetry Society" and became acquainted with Zhu Shenghao, who was known as "Zhijiang Caizi". This short, thin, taciturn man turned Song Qingru's world upside down and disrupted all her visions of the future.
Zhu Shenghao was born in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, to a shabby merchant family, and when he was in his 10s, his parents died of illness.
The failed family situation and the loss of joy since childhood made Zhu Shenghao lonely and introverted, "in a year, there are more than a hundred days of not saying a word all day, more than two hundred days of less than ten sentences, and the rest of the days the most said is less than thirty sentences", but his talent is difficult to hide.
At the age of 17, Zhu Shenghao was sent to Zhijiang University on a full scholarship, and Mr. Xia Chengtao described him:
"His man is twenty years old this year, and he is as silent as a virgin, and he will not say a word easily. I have heard English very deeply, and it is not easy for Zhijiang to run a school for decades. ”

Zhu Shenghao's silence and rushing poetry became a wonderful contrast, Song Qingru was intoxicated, and the two were secretly in love.
In 1933, Zhu Shenghao graduated and came to shanghai world bookstore to engage in compilation work, and began to translate Shakespeare's plays.
The reason why he chose to translate Shakespeare was due to the fact that the Japanese invaders at that time ridiculed China's cultural level because China did not have a translation of Shakespeare's plays, and what Zhu Shenghao did was the arrogance and counterattack of the literati, and all this was not easy, because he only had two reference books at hand.
In 1936, Song Qingru graduated from university and went to Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, to teach at Minde Girls' High School, and after the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, she moved in Sichuan with her family and successively taught at Chongqing Beibei No. 2 Middle School and Chengdu Girls' High School.
Separated from the two places, Song Qingru and Zhu Shenghao's love affair was maintained by letters, they exchanged poems, of course, more poured out love words, and those moving sentences were continuously produced during this time.
On May 1, 1942, in the tenth year of acquaintance, Song Qingru accepted Zhu Shenghao's marriage proposal, and the two held a wedding ceremony in Shanghai.

Just as Xia Chengtao inscribed for them at the wedding: "Talented and beautiful, Chaimi couple", no matter how talented they are, they will eventually become a real Chaimi couple, rolling in the fireworks of the world. After marriage, Zhu Shenghao continued to translate Shakespeare's works, because he was unemployed because of the war, but he said: "Rice can not be eaten, Shakespeare can not be translated." When he fled in 1937, Zhu Shenghao lost the original manuscript he had translated before and had to start over, and his deteriorating body made him feel that the time was not waiting, and he always wanted to do a little more.
The burden of life all fell on Song Qingru's body, she washed and cooked all day, and when the economy was tight, she also went to help workers earn money to supplement the family, "he translated sha, I cooked rice", the greatness of his wife, often also the regret of women.
In June 1944, he fell ill with tuberculosis, coincided with war, lacked medical treatment, and on December 26, Zhu Shenghao died of illness, and before he died, he whispered: "Qingru, I am going." This year, he was 32 years old, and Song Qingru was 33 years old.
Zhu Shenghao left, leaving Song Qingru with 31 1.8 million words of unpublished translated manuscripts, 5 untranslated works, and his son who had just turned one year old, leaving his unfinished ideals and unfulfilled life responsibilities to his wife at the same time.
Song Qingru could only grit his teeth and move forward.
She traveled around to facilitate the publication of her husband's translations, and in 1947, Zhu Shenghao's translation of The Complete Works of Shakespeare was finally published and distributed;
She even began translating the remaining 5 Shakespeares.
She may not have imagined that she would become a translator of Shakespeare.
Once a person has responsibility, he often can't take care of himself, and even forgets himself.

With the publication of Shakespeare's translations of Zhu Shenghao's works before his death, Song Qingru can finally stop and breathe a sigh of relief, idle, and the loneliness that lurks in the bottom of your heart will bite you.
Although the memories are very sweet, they cannot replace the umbrella that holds for you in real life, when it rains, and the warm hug that opens up for you in the cold night.
In 1949, at the age of 38, Song Qingru went to Hangzhou Senior High School to teach, and Luo Yunzhi, the school's general affairs director, was an alumnus of Song Qingru's university.
After walking alone for 5 years, Song Qingru was touched by Luo Yunzhi's warmth.
He cares about her, helps her, Song Qingru is sick and can't go to class, he goes to help substitute lessons, ten thousand words I love you can't be compared to together, probably everyone needs a little warmth.
In 1951, Song Qingru gave birth to a daughter named Song Fangfang. Zhu Shenghao and Song Qingru's son Zhu Shanggang said in the book "The Soul of the Poet Sha: My Parents Zhu Shenghao and Song Qingru":
"I remember a time when Mr. Luo often came to see his mother after school and holidays, and later, my mother became pregnant and returned to the countryside of Changshu in the summer of 1951 to give birth to my sister."
But for this girl, Song Qingru's attitude is to be secretive and avoid talking about it. In her recollection of Zhu Shenghao's article, the editor's note read: "Ms. Song Qingru, for more than forty years, has raised her only son as an adult. ”
A big reason why she wanted to be this daughter did not exist was because she was born out of wedlock to Song Qingru.
Luo Yunzhi could not give her a name because he had a wife in the countryside named Mao Yubi. Although it is an arranged marriage and the feelings are not harmonious, for Mao Yubi, she can't grasp her husband's heart, but she still has to grasp this person to death.
It is said that at that time, Luo Yunzhi wrote to his wife several times asking for a divorce, but Mao Yubi did not let up, and finally did not go.
Therefore, Song Qingru left Hangzhou Senior High School and went to teach at Hangzhou Normal School, and the two of them said goodbye.
In 1967, Luo Yunzhi died of a heart attack.
Regarding this relationship, Zhu Shanggang said:
Luo Yunzhi and his mother got along very well during that time, and they also considered coming together in the future. But then they broke up anyway, and what reason my mother never talked about. ”
In fact, for Song Qingru, she must have summoned up enough courage to take this step. Carrying the most affectionate love of her deceased husband to start an unpredictable emotion, her pressure is multifaceted.
The pressure comes from the outside world, even if the chastity arch is no longer popular, but the society still likes the female image of "from one to the end";
The pressure comes from yourself, will you feel lost in the contrast with your deceased husband, will you have a sense of shame for betraying him?
Song Qingru finally tried to get out of the narrow world, but everything did not go so smoothly, so she turned around and retracted back into the world where only Zhu Haosheng was there.
It's just that the girl named Song Fangfang is very wronged.
She had written to her half-brother Luo Chengzu, hoping to see her father's tomb, but was refused by her brother on the grounds that "her mother is still alive".
Until 1994, after Mao Yubi's death, Luo Chengzu said: "If Song Fangfang is not abandoned, welcome here to tell the love of brothers and sisters, my father's tomb is still there." ”
In 1997, at Song Qingru's memorial service, Song Fangfang cried very sadly.
As a child born with hope in her mother, she also witnessed the disappointment and pain of her mother's rebirth. Song Fangfang's birth was a constant reminder of the failure of Song Qingru's efforts for a new life.
This failure, compared with the previous short and beautiful marriage, simply made Song Qingru unacceptable, so she preferred to forget, as if she had been waiting for love alone.

Zhu Shenghao had asked his brother Zhu Wenzhen to complete this matter in his will, but zhu Wenzhen's style of translation was inconsistent with his prose translation style, and the publisher was not satisfied.
Before her husband's death, Song Qingru had helped him proofread and transcribe the manuscript, so she decided to complete her last wish for her husband.
If Song Qing is not an English major, it is not easy to do a good job in translation. To this end, she often runs to used bookstores to collect various Shakespeare annotated books, reference books, and various single translations translated by others.
During the day she was busy teaching, and at night she lit a lamp and boiled oil, and in order to cheer up, she had to smoke a few cigarettes and study word by word in the smoke.
But even if this was not enough, she did not have enough time, not enough information, no companions to communicate, so in 1955, Song Qingru took a year's leave from the Hangzhou Commercial School, where she was working at the time, to Sichuan, assisted by Zhu Wenzhen, to translate Zhu Shenghao's unfinished Shakespeare.
Fast forward, 3 years.
After translating, sorting, proofreading, and basically satisfied, Song Qingru contacted the publishing house for publication matters. But by this time, the publisher had planned to publish the complete works of Shakespeare and had asked for a translation, and her translation was no longer needed.
"When I came out of the publishing house, my face was unusually calm, I didn't say anything, but I went to my father's grave alone with the manuscript and kept vigil all night."
3 years of hard work was in vain, but this is for outsiders, as far as Song Qingru herself is concerned, she did it, no matter what the result, she did it.
Fate is so cold, the only thing that can make Song Qingru feel warm is probably those memories that have long been yellowed.
In 1977, the 67-year-old Song Qingru returned to the Zhu family's old mansion in the south gate of Jiaxing, and she lived in the cottage where her husband once lived, and the walls of the cottage were hung with zhu Shenghao's charcoal portrait, and everything remained the same as when Zhu Shenghao left.
She often reminisced alone about the bits and pieces of her life with him, and she remembered the first time she saw him:
"At the time, he was a complete child. Slender, pale face, kind, innocent, self-satisfied, easy to feel approachable. ”
She wrote commemorative articles and corresponded with friends, talking about Zhu Shenghao, and he was the only one for the rest of her life.
In 1987, the People's Literature Publishing House published The Complete Works of Shakespeare, which included thirty-one scripts translated by Zhu Shenghao;

On June 27, 1997, Song Qingru died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 86. When she was buried, she took with her the Complete Works of Shakespeare and the letters written to her by Zhu Shenghao.
