In Chinese academia, there are few lucky scholars like Huang Lisong.
In mainland China, Guangdong has his birthplace of Shantou and his ancestral hometown of Jieyang; in Hong Kong, HKU has the Wong Lai Song Lecture Hall and his bronze statue; in Malaysia, the chemical community has set up the "Wong Lai Song Foundation" under his name; and in Singapore, he served as president of Nanyang University.
Even more fortunately, he became the first Chinese president of the University of Hong Kong, a leading university in Asia.

As a chemist with outstanding achievements in the field of free radical chemistry, he has laid a good cultural foundation in hong Kong Minsheng College founded by his father since childhood.
He entered HKU at the age of 18, worked as a secondary school teacher after graduation, and then worked as a teaching assistant at Guangxi University.
At the age of 25, he was given the opportunity to study in the United Kingdom, studying at Oxford University, and at the age of 28 he received a doctorate in chemistry.
After completing his studies, he did not return to Hong Kong immediately, but went to the University of Chicago in the United States to do postdoctoral research.
During this time, he harvested love and entered the marriage hall hand in hand with Ms. Li Wei.
At the age of 31, he began a teaching and academic research career in Nanyang for more than 10 years.
In the 1970s, at the age of 52, he left Singapore to return to Hong Kong as President of the University of Hong Kong.
He has been the president of this university for 14 years, and has made many contributions and has a good relationship with students.
During his tenure, the number of HKU students doubled from 4,000 to 8,000.
In his lifetime, he seems to have done two things, one is to teach, and the other is to do research.
Speaking of academic achievements, he has published about 50 papers, authored the monograph "Introduction to Free Radical Chemistry", and has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, President of the Malaysian Chemical Society, Fellow of the International College of Arts and Sciences, and Permanent Trustee of the University of Hong Kong.
After retiring in 1994, Wong and his wife and son settled in Britain with their son, but would return to Hong Kong regularly to live for a period of time.
Around 1999, Wong Anderson and his wife, Ms Li Wei, returned to Hong Kong again and stayed at the home of HKU.
At that time, Li Wei was already suffering from Alzheimer's disease and needed to be cared for.
After a trip from home, Li Wei shuttled alone through the small campus of the University of Hong Kong, pacing in a familiar place, and has never returned home.
Later, the family and the school tried their best to search, but there was still no result.
A few months later, her body was found in a corner of HKU's back hill.
When the old man died, it was really tragic, and even his family did not have a single one to stand by.
According to the analysis of the police, the cause of his death is suspected of falling off a cliff for a while and no one has timely rescued him.
After losing her beloved wife, the old president of HKU was very nostalgic and set up a "Wong Lee Wai Fund" to continue her spiritual life forever.
Later, Principal Huang spent the rest of his life reminiscing about the past years and wrote a book in memory of his wife, entitled "Wind and Rain String Song - Memoirs of Huang Lisong". Of course, he also enriched the "Huang Liwei Fund" with the proceeds from the publication of his works and used it for special purposes.
The elderly man, born in 1920, died in the UK on 8 April 2015 at the age of 94.
