Museums have always been an important front for patriotic education. Nanhai District Museum is a patriotic education base in the city and district, and has attached great importance to the joint construction of museums and schools for many years, and has built patriotic education practice bases or teaching and research bases with more than 20 schools such as Sun Yat-sen University, Nanhai Middle School, and Xiqiao High School. Today, the Nanhai District Museum has added four new members, respectively with Foshan Tingyinhu Experimental Middle School, Nanhai District Xiqiao Town Adult Culture and Technology School, Guangdong Dance and Drama Vocational College to build a patriotic education practice base, and Nanhai Open University (Guangdong Polytechnic Vocational College Nanhai Campus) to build a "big ideological and political course" practice teaching base.

The theme of this year's "May 18 International Museum Day" is "Museums Committed to Education and Research", and the School of Sociology and Anthropology of Sun Yat-sen University and the Nanhai District Museum jointly edited "Xiqiao Mountain Stone Tools". As one of the series of "South China Sea Museum Book Series", the book provided reference and supporting materials for the in-depth study of stone tools in Xiqiao Mountain, and was officially published on the day of the event.

In an interview with reporters, Wang Hong, editor-in-chief of "Xiqiao Mountain Stone Tools" and associate professor of the School of Sociology and Anthropology of Sun Yat-sen University, introduced that Xiqiao Mountain is the first Chinese Neolithic site to be discovered and named in Guangdong, and is the largest quarry and stone tool manufacturing base in the south of the Neolithic period, which has important historical value.
"Stone tools are the tools of ancient people's production and life, and they have been used for nearly three million years in the history of human development, which is much longer than the thousands of years of the metal age." He said that "Xiqiao Mountain Stone Tools" vividly presents how human beings evolved from the era of knife work and fire through pictures and texts, and one of the highlights is the research and display of the collection, production and use of stone tools, which has a very positive effect on young students to understand history.

In 2021, the Nanhai District Museum set up the "Nanhai Courtesy" cultural and creative space, registered the "Nanhai Courtesy" trademark, and has launched more than 100 cultural and creative products with the historical and cultural characteristics of the South China Sea and cultural and museum elements in the past three years. This year, "Nanhai Youli" continued to make efforts to launch three cultural and innovative products in conjunction with the exhibition "Source and Flow: Nanhai Kiln and Maritime Silk Road in the Song Dynasty", namely Nanhai kiln pattern series coasters, postcards, and wrist bags.

Combined with the theme of this year's "5.18 International Museum Day", in the coming month, Nanhai will usher in a cultural and museum feast, with 10 major exhibitions and more than 20 social and educational activities held one after another.
