On May 12, the 2024 National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day theme publicity activities and publicity week in Nanhai District were launched, and all towns (streets) also carried out a series of activities of "disaster prevention and mitigation propaganda into schools, communities, families, rural areas, and enterprises" to further enhance the public's awareness of disaster prevention and reduction, and establish a national, multi-level, and permeable natural disaster publicity and education system.
In order to continuously strengthen the emergency response capacity at the grassroots level, in 2024, the disaster prevention and mitigation work in the Nanhai District will focus on the "Eight Ones" strategy, comprehensively revise the disaster relief plan, sort out the list of hidden dangers, strengthen training and service for key groups, establish an efficient team of disaster information personnel, compile work guidance manuals, regularly hold disaster prevention and mitigation activities, strengthen the construction of grassroots emergency rescue teams, and build a science popularization and publicity base according to local conditions, so as to comprehensively enhance the awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation and emergency avoidance capabilities of the whole people.
On the morning of the same day, in addition to awarding plaques to 7 town and street disaster prevention and mitigation science popularization bases and 3 earthquake prevention and disaster reduction science popularization demonstration schools, the event also awarded flags to 7 village (residential) comprehensive emergency rescue teams and 9 district and town flood drainage teams to promote the "last mile" of the emergency rescue team, do a good job in the early disposal of disaster accidents and other emergencies, and focus on organizing the masses to help themselves and each other, transfer and resettle personnel, maintain social order and other tasks, and comprehensively improve the emergency response capacity at the grassroots level.
In Qiandeng Lake Living Water Park, the organizers set up equipment display areas, interactive experience booths and orienteering activities. The equipment exhibition area displays 6 themes in the fields of earthquake reduction and isolation technology, fire rescue, water rescue, and medical assistance. The interactive experience area includes 5 directional links and 12 interactive game booths, allowing the participating citizens to have an in-depth understanding of disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge and enhance their self-rescue and mutual rescue capabilities through interactive forms such as disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge, emergency medical rescue science popularization, and high-altitude rescue knot skills experience.
