BYD's electric car is popular among the Japanese, and the dolphin has become the top seller of imported cars in Japan in January

Fast Technology reported on February 8 that Li Yunfei, general manager of the BYD brand, said today that the Japanese Economic News reported that in January 2024, the electric vehicles of Japanese imported brands increased by 11%, and BYD's share accounted for 2%.

In the ranking of overseas brand electric vehicles in January, BYD DORPIN (Dolphin in China) ranked No. 1 and BYD ATTO3 ranked No. 4. 

It is reported that the latest data from the Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA) shows that in January, Japan's pure electric vehicle import sales increased by 11% year-on-year to 1,186;

BYD's monthly sales increased sixfold year-on-year, accounting for 20% of Japan's imported pure electric vehicle market, ranking second.

AMONG THE ELECTRIC VEHICLES IMPORTED FROM JAPAN, BYD DOLPIN RANKS FIRST, AND BYD ATTO3 (named Yuan PLUS in China) ranks fourth, and according to the plan, BYD will launch the BYD SEAL (named seal in China) electric coupe in Japan in 2024.

BYD officially entered the Japanese passenger car market in July 2022 and has opened 17 stores nationwide, covering Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya, Fukuoka and other cities.

Previously, it was reported that BYD plans to establish a network of 100 dealers in Japan by 2025 and hit the annual sales target of 30,000 units.
