As sibling models of the same platform, they naturally also use the same power platform. Both models are equipped with an inline single-cylinder water-cooled engine with an actual displacement of 398.15cc, a maximum power of 29.4kW (40 hp) and a maximum torque of 37.9 Nm.
Judging from the data alone, it still has a good power performance, and it can output the maximum torque at 6500rpm, and the power characteristics are also in line with the tonality of retro models. However, there will be a difference in the curb weight of the two cars, with the Speed 400 at 170kg and the Scrambler 400X at 179kg, which is not heavy overall. Functional configuration
In terms of equipment, both models are equipped with 43mm inverted front shocks, with the Speed 400 having 140mm of travel and the Scrambler 400X having 150mm of travel. The rear central shock is tanked and both can be preloaded, and there is also a difference in stroke, with the Speed 400 at 130mm versus the Scrambler 400X at 150mm.
Both cars have a single front disc with opposite four-piston calipers and a single rear disc with single-piston calipers, but the Scrambler 400X has a slightly larger front disc of 320mm, while the Speed 400 has a 300mm front disc.
Other differences include tyre sizes, with the Scrambler 400X getting 100/90-19 front and 140/80-17 rear, while the Speed 400 is 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear.
In terms of other configurations, the application of the digital pointer instrument cluster makes the retro charm of the 400 series more pure, but it still has dual-channel ABS and TCS that can be turned off, and uses an electronic throttle.
