Empress Longyu's original name was Yehenara Jingfen, nicknamed Xizi, and she was Cixi's own niece. She is not good-looking, and her personality is wooden, and Cixi often calls her "big wood". Maybe it was because of the noble blood, or maybe it was because of the weak personality that was easy to handle, Cixi married her to Guangxu.
Although Longyu and Guangxu grew up together, they only have sister and brother love for each other.
Guangxu has no love for Longyu, coupled with Longyu's special status, which makes him very disgusted with this marriage.
As early as after the election, Guangxu intended to choose other show girls but was rejected by Cixi. In Guangxu's eyes, Longyu is no longer the gentle cousin, but the eyeliner that Cixi deliberately placed beside him.
